Since the hublot big bang, black magic and ice versions are getting better and better why cant we provide help to the manufacturing companies that make the V1 model to produce an already made rep that doesnt need any modding.

Its really annoying to see nice models but there is always something missing!
(Either the caseback is wrong, the 27 jewels is missing, the crystal is not properly done, the datewheel either and etc.....)

I am sure there are people who wish that could happen one day and I am sure it will!!!!

Until the factories buy an actual watch, dismantle it, make molds, fabricate in house clone movements from actual in house movements it will never happen. IF IT DID happen, the rep would cost nearly as much as a gen. Kind of pointless IMHO.

yeah it'll be nice to have a 1:1 out of box rep, but hey this hobby is addictive and some of us like to tinker with the toys a little.
...Its like buying a old ford escort 1.0L and slapping the bits to make it look a RS Cossie.

the AD's would be out of business if it exactly the same. wishful thinking

And rep factories would have no need to bring out newer versions, so old customers would never need to come back once they had that model...

Look at this ice bang, it looks so like the genuine. It is offered for 450 $

Is that a v2 or v1?

Some sites claim that they used a genuine to make 1:1 Rep

Plus, if a rep factory ever really did manage to make an exact clone, they would find themselves SERIOUSLY in the crosshairs of the gen company and their legal and economic might.

Short answer to the title question: probably never. For reasons listed here and simply the nature of the hobby.

nope, they want more business, so for economic reasons they will not get it right :)

Edited.

Sorry, just realised it's the Hublot section so my comment was irrelevant.

Aplologies.

It looks as a v2

Wrong bezel
Low beat movement with blue screws
And worst of all, dial-printing is waaay of.

v1,5 for 250'ich is mush better

THis is better, and much cheaper

Actually I'm pretty sure the factories have bought gens several times and disassembled them. I don't see how they could have repped the 288k to such perfection just by looking at magazine pictures

Im sure they will have to dismantle a genuine hublot if they want to recreate the new UNCO movement :lolcina:

They'll never even attempt to recreate the new unico movement, to much time and effort when the layout of the chronos is the same as the 7750... They'll just throw a weird rotor on a 7750 or something.

+1

If they do attempt to clone the unico, the rep will cost nearly as much as a nice used gen

Why would anyone want a perfect rep down to the same in-house movement and so one anyway? So that one could buy a 'gen' watch at a fraction of the cost? It does not make any business sense for the rep factory to do so given the price they are selling. The gen companys are making loads of profit and Chinese manufacture is low, But it does not mean that gens have low manufacturing cost and Chinese manufacture is dirt low. The quality and attention of swiss movement adds to the manufacturing cost and this is exactly what the Chinese cannot do at a mass market scale without a significant increase in selling price. And for that matter higher selling price will probably turn away more rep buyers as rep buyers r very pricee sensitive.

So lets just enjoy the hobby and take small leaps at a time. We have now watches that look and feel indistinguishable from gens from the outside and movement that looks ok. It has really took a while before we arrive at this kind of quality. A perfect rep down to the movement and quality of finish will probably just kill the hobby as it will cost too much and we might as well get a second-hand gen piece with quality and servicable assurance product. Enjoy the good life while it last... Someday, the gen companys will try to shut the whole thing down if the 'perfect' reps eats into their sales.

They'll make perfect copies when they become gen factories...
