IWC Big Pilot: Power reserve or fake PR?

Hi,

Newbee to the forum (witch is great btw). I´m considering buying a IWC Big Pilot 5004. After studying the many usefull comments on this forum I decided to drop a mail to Mary from watch-international. She (her site) came recommended a couple of times on the forum. My first question to her was about the differences of the two (apparently) same products for the BP5004.
Within half a day I got a respond and she told me that the difference is the power reserve. There is a model with a power reserve and a fake power reserve. She recommended buying the fake power reserve for it should be of a better quality. Here are some questions for you all:

1. Any experience with Mary and watch-international?
2. the right move to buy the fake power reserve?
3. If it has a fake power reserve, what keeps the watch running: is it hand-winded or battery ? (maybe a stupid question but I´m a little confused)

Of course I´ll keep informing you about the purchase and post some pictures.

After buying two of the working PR models, I would say that Mary is right, they will be more accurate looking. Personally I wanted a working PR but i did not know the date-wheel was shiny

I have both models, while they are both pretty nice, The fake PR is much nicer. just seems to be much better quality overall. In fact, I have never even worn the working PR model...

Oh, and the "fake" in fake power reserve refers only to the dial indicator of how much reserve is left - it is in a fixed position and doesn't move. The watch itself otherwise functions the same as any other mechanical watch...

fake PR all the way.. the one with working PR has wrong subdial spacing, so if one day you want to apply a gen dial or something it wont fit on that version... just my 2c.

Fake pr - less problems in the long run...

+1 on fake PR. Other than reliability issues, it is also more accurate as the one with the working PR has the PR placement wrong due to the type of movement
