Hey fellas, want your input. A trusted dealer I have bought several watches from is giving me a story I have a hard time believing. A ceramic sub I had bought a while back has a problem with the clasp and the dealer agreed to send me a new one. I even placed a new order for another piece so that he can simply send the clasp with the watch. A couple of days later I get this email.

we got the reply from the factory ,and they said that the
sub ceramic bezel clasp is out of stock!
so,pls let me know whehter you want us to send out your order firstly ?

or just wait for the clasp? there is no the exact time when it will come back in stock !

I sent an email asking for a clarification and was told that the factory has one clasp for one watch...LOL, no extras. WTF is that about ?

Any dealers on the board want to comment ?

I know from experience that some parts are hard if not damn near impossible to get... that's why you see so many members post in the "wanted to buy" section.

yeh bro - seems plausible... Why not send the complete watch back for replacement... The dealer simply returns it to the factory anyway as far as I undertsand, so surely they'd be okay to do this? You'd be out the shipping, but would solve the problem, would it not?

Happens all the time if a part is short supply the factory are not interested in supplying a part and will use them only to make complete watches.
Perfect 10 bezels are an example of this when factory get shipment of bezels maybe only 20% are perfect 10 the others are not so they use the perfect 10 only on complete watches.
It's the nature of the beast nothing comes in Qc'd by manufacturer and supply is outweighed by demand.

It is always best to send complete watch back if there is a problem although in the case of a clasp there are loads of clasps that would fit this watch and while they are not the easy lock type they look exactly the same. So no reason not to make do until you can source the correct one.

When sending a watch back for exchange watch needs to be in new condition or factory will just repair it and it takes ages.
You will be amazed the amount of people who send watches back with obvious signs of wear and links removed from bands claiming they have never used the watch and it arrived with the fault.
Don't do it you are wasting your time factory are not interested in why or how just if it's new or used.

Owning it for some time doesn't make this possible. Some dealers will work with you soon after purchase but I've never heard of any dealer taking a busted watch back after it has been used for some time. I've had bezel issues before and the dealer I bought from told me I should take it to a local watch smith.

Good luck with the clasp. I guess if the factories make the exact same number of parts to make an exact number of watches they wouldn't have any spare clasps. Hopefully they can get a hold of one for you.

Wow, thanks for all the replies everybody, especially Robert for giving me the dealer insight. I have to admit the dealer did come through, I've had that watch for some months now so even agreeing to send a new one is awesome. Thanks again everyone.
