What's the 2nd best Sea Dweller available

Got an email from Hont yesterday saying he's been out of town for a few days (which I knew) and said he'd take care of everything when he gets back. I'm confident he will take care of any issues with the watch and the pics.

He said the 2nd set of pics he sent me were of the wrong watch and that his brother was handling stuff for him while he's away. He wanted to wait until he got back in town to handle my order to make sure it was correct.

Fingers crossed he actually has the Noob for me...

so. just got an email from Hont. he says he made a mistake and his brother got the wrong sea dweller. he says the Noob ones are no longer available at all. he offered a refund. or i can accept the watch he has. hopefully with a partial refund.

so could you guys comment some more on THIS watch and point out the deficiencies? i'll probably swap out the bezel to make that improvement but could you comment on the proportions of the case, face issues etc? i just need to know if it IS the 2nd best available while I wait for a Noob one to show up in the sale section somewhere...

It seems to be the same one as I got throught timesshops promotion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I cant really notice any difference.

FWIW, I picked up a SD with the Polizia di Stato Sommozzatori logo and it's a SSD- SN Z539117- I guess that would make it the latest version, original SN was F539117. Nice crown- fits on an aftermarket tube, nice cg's. Etched Rolex crown at 6 on the crystal is too large! Came from Puretime who didn't have anymore SSD's.

Yes, the bezel marker font is heavier on the one Hont sent you. Just checking yours and the Timesshop watch against the gen- I'd say the TS looks more accurate. I say that, but I'm not an expert. I can't see what the HEV looks like.

Hont's apologized for the mistake as well as offered to refund half and let you keep the watch. That isn't a bad deal.

i don't have the watch yet. he's out of town and will send me additional pics when he returns. so, i haven't said "yes i'll take it" yet. i've only paid for it so far...

and he didn't offer to refund half. he's offered to refund $30US which would make the final price of the watch, including shipping, $211 US with asian clone movement...

i'm not really concerned about the bezel since i'll probably swap it out for a more accurate one anyway...

Ok. Hont is finally back in town. He sent me additional pics of the watch he's got for me. Just to catch everyone up... He initially said he had a Noob and had me pay him. He then realized he didn't and they weren't available. This is what he has. He's offered to refund $30 of what I paid him and send me this watch instead...

It's obviously not a Noob. I need to know if it's good though. I don't have as keen of an eye as a lot of you (Q5, Spirit etc.) so let me know what you think.

Mostly I need to know if it is a Sea Dweller case instead of just a modified sub case. I'm not really concerned about the bezel because that's an easy switch to a watchmaterial one.

Please point out what's good (and bad) so I can make an informed decision whether I should accept this one or not.

I think he got a little too artsy with the pics but hopefully you can get a good idea of what it is...

some experts please chime in. to my untrained eye this piece looks like the case around the HE valve is damaged?

Yes, it definitely looks like the case is chipped around the HE. Also, unless the lighting is bad, the HE looks way too dark. I would not wear this watch, not even for $100. I would ask for a full refund, since the error was admittedly 100% dealer error. Just my .02

The Sea-Dweller case is larger then the Sub case.
But some just drill a hole in the Sub case and put a HEV in it and call it Sea-Dweller.
That´s my theory...

You'd be right. I've seen a rep SD that looked great otherwise but the case thickness was exactly the same as my Sub. That HEV is too dark and the case is definitely damaged around the HEV.

Also, that case does NOT look thick enough and it is a visible difference. There isn't enough case between the HEV and the edge of the case. Definitely not correct.
