We have all seen this question raised a million times by now, and recently read something about the perspective you get when looking at a watch on your wrist versus seeing it from a distance in relation to the whole arm, and wrist. Two totally different looks, and below are some quick shots to show it. As a background...I'm 6' tall and weight roughly 215, I would say my arms and wrists are larger than most (wrist are about 8").
When taking a wrist shot or looking at the time up close, the watch is in the foreground and looks larger than what's in the background(wrist). Stand back and look or take a pic from a slight distance and you quickly see the true perspective. In the first pic below, up close this 42mm case seems like it takes up my whole 8" wrist. In the next shot you see what it really looks like on me, as well as what someone else sees when they view the whole arm, wrist, watch, hand, ect. I have 2 full links showing on both the top and bottom of the case. Suddenly that 42mm looks tiny! I still agree with most that any 6.5" wrist can't pull of a 45mm po(no matter how much you like the watch).
Maybe the moral is...if you look down at your wrist and think "this watch is too big"...stand back and look in the mirror before selling it.
