Any pipe smokers?

Anyone smoke a pipe (like grandpa, not a bong)? What do I need as a first time pipe smoker? Tips? Anything?

I used to smoke a pipe.

All you need is a pipe, some tabac and a lighter.

I got all that other crap and never used it after a bit. It takes some practice but nothing is smoother.

Maintance is a bitch and is why most guys don't. If you like pipe tabac (wich is AWSOME btw) somke it with rolling papers.

Yep, i'm 31 and I smoke a pipe and cigars. Nothing better than sitting out on a the porch on a warm California night with the pipe stoked, strumin the geeto. My buddy got me into it and now I love it. Used to smoke cigarettes, its much different and cigarette smokers tend to suck to hard on the pipe which will give you tongue bite (stings the tongue a little). So puff gently. Start with vanilla tobacco.

Pack it 2/3 full, tamp it down with a tamper.
Light it until chard on top (while puffing obv).
tamp it down so the ash/carbon makes a flat layer on top of the remaining tobacco.
Light it now untill you have a good cherry that makes up most of the top of tobacco.
if you've done it right that cherry should go awhile
light when needed.
some spit and tobacco tar will fall down the mothpeice so you will need pipe cleaners to clean it.

Nice instruction! I just use my finger instead of a tamper. Just one less thing to carry around.
