Earlier today, I signed on, introduced myself, and immediately did the thing frowned upon--asked which site is best, etc. I plead ignorance, as I just found the DonBrizzell thread that should keep me on the right track.

Since my transgression is forgiven,

I tried contacting several of the trusted dealers who were noted to accept PayPal as payment, only to find that some don't really show PP as acceptable on their website. I like PP for security reasons, and it would seem that it would be generally acceptable if dealers are legit.
What is the common wisdom here on that? Naturally I want to do everything I can to keep from getting screwed. A few hundred bucks is still a few hundred bucks, ya know.

Problem with PP is that PP do not like to be associated with illegal activities so as soon as the know that the dealer is selling reps they freeze the account. This get rather expensive for the dealer and is the reason that so few still accept PP. As this is an illegal trade, no dealer is legit in the eyes of either PP or the law.

you should email the seller and ask, sometimes they do accept paypal although their site didn't state their paypal account. They will give you paypal invoice once you finalised your order with them. This may help them to get away in case of a screw up.
