Dear fellow members,
Thanks for a great forum, an endless pool of wisdom from which I have gained lots of insights.
Recently I bought IWC Portuguese 7 days from one of our trusted dealers.
The transaction was smooth and I received pictures of the watch for approval prior to shipment. I took a close look at the pictures, approved and one week later I received the watch.
Only problem is that I received a different watch than showed on the pictures. Unfortunately the watch I received has a noticeable flaw in that the ‘1’s in 11 are not parallel!

When pointing this out to the dealer I was offered an exchange… this means that I will pay for sending the watch back (not cheap at all in my country) and run a risk of customs later on.
Is this an acceptable deal? Please advice.
All the best

If you opt for an exchange, keep in mind that the one you get back may be worse than that one. Quite a gamble if you ask me. You might be better off keeping it.

Is it possible that the Numeral has got dislodged during transit.
I have had Numbers come completely off the dial after dropping a watch (Was only a Russian Poljot beater though).
Can anyone offer any advice on how easy a fix this would be for "ACCST".

Thank you very much!

The dealer tod me that the pictures send for approval was of the model not the particular piece to be shipped. :headdesk:

The numerials can have become lose during transit, any advice for a fix would be great.

Is this kind of problems to be expected or has I just been very unlucky? whats your experience?

Again thanks a bunch

I'd say send it back.
and demand that the watch you were shown is the one that gets shipped to you.
dealers should never show you one watch, then send you a different one.
we call that bait and switch, and it's not supposed to be allowed by dealers here.

You are lucky

Unless you paid in the range of $300-$400 for it, my advice would be to keep it.
If it's one of these "great bargain - only $129 - only two in stock", then you might receive a replacement which is not even working:whistle:
Look for a watchmaker, either in the forum or around you and see how much the fix would be.

It's a quick easy and cheap fix for any decent watchsmith. See my sig line below on how to find one.

this is why i deal with ruby. she always sends me pictures of the actual watch being shipped to me. there are no surprises when i open the box unless it was something that wasn't visible to me or her with the plastic on the watch/bracelet.

Bit pointless sending you a stock picture. Why bother? If they are going to send you pictures for approval then surely the only ones you want to see are of your actual watch
