Hi,

I am in the process of getting my first reps! I have so far lined up two, just now got to get the cash in order before I can buy them!

One the reps I'm looking at has a "Low Beat 21600bph A7750" I'm not too sure what is the difference apart from possibly the high beat version is more reliable. I am buying the watch from a trusted dealer and I'm sure it's nothing major. But could someone please help me to make sure I don't buy a watch that won't last or will break quickly due to a bad movement.

I would really appreciate your help and advice!

Many Thanks,

Maestro.

I never would buy the low beat version, safe some more and go with the high beat.
The low beat is junk, but some people like it.

I am new to this game too, I have contacted Lay from www.replicamake.com via a PM from this forum, he told me that he has two websites, one for low beat and one for high beat reps. As follows:

www.replicamake.com = High Beat Reps

www.replicamade.com= Low Beat Reps

I have yet to make a purchase from any trusted Rep but I have read this forum for the past 4 weeks and have heard good things so far about Lay and replicamake.com, and having been in contact with him via this forum he is exceptionally quick in responding to you questions. Considering I live in England and I believe he is in Maylasia he will respond within half an hour or less.

For my first rep I am 95% certain I will buy from replicamake.com, but as I am often on this forum and read other posts I could suddenly change to someone like Hontwatch.com, because I have just read a positive post about that website.

Hope that helps

As with all reps you don't have any guarantee. They may last long or die a week later. Welcome to the rep game.

Unless the low beat is like gen I'd go for the high beat as Guru has recommended.

Thanks for your replies. That's disappointing for me as the watch I wanted only comes in low beat. I will try another dealer, but I think all dealers will say the same thing :(

Basically, is it just a unreliable movement or is it something else that is wrong with it?

Thanks!

Actually are the diff between 21.6k & 28.8k so vast drastic that heavily affects the functionality of these watches? Life & dead situations or just good to have options?

I have two of the low beat A7750's that were puchased about a year ago. Neither one of them keeps good time and they are almost impossible to regulate, in fact one of them is in the process of being replcaced with an ETA 7750 movement. All other functions are fine. I have one high beat A7750 and it has been very good, keeps good time and all works well.

I think the answer is there - they are junk! I will stay away from these movements. Thank you for your help everyone!

I'm really surprised that the low beat A7750's are bad. MANY of the parts are directly interchangeable with ETA parts (at least in the one I have sitting here). In fact if you're planning on swapping out the movement with an ETA, get the low beat A7750. The hands don't have to be modified to fit the ETA (it's an easier swap).

I took it upon myself to examine a member's low-beat and find out exactly what makes it so inferior to the high-beat. I spent MANY hours studying every aspect of it. This is what I found. The main difference is the regulator, or actually I should say the balance complete, which is not interchangeable with the high-beat A7750 or the genuine ETA 7750. The balance complete on the low-beat is horrible. The hairspring is inconsistent and will often only keep reasonably good time if the mainspring is not fully wound. The balance has a tendency to cause galloping, or triple ticking, which will momentarily cause the movement to run fast. The result is often erratic timekeeping when the mainspring is more fully wound. Oddly enough, the movement is capable of quite decent timekeeping when the mainspring is mostly UNwound. Which translates into either poor timekeeping or poor power reserve, whichever way you choose to look at it.

I would recommend everyone on this board to skip the low-beat altogether. If you have a low-beat and it works well you are very fortunate.

Excellent information. It will save me from spending a lot of money on an ETA balance just to find out it doesn't work. I was wondering why this movement wasn't working correctly (everything works, but the balance doesn't seem to engage properly with the pallet), now I know that it's because the balance sucks...thanks!!
