Sopping at the AD

Alright so here I go. I'll be pissing of alot of people so that's why I'm posting IN THE FLAME FREE ZONE.

I decided to go shopping for all the reps I wanted at the local AD. It would be nice to try a rep on before I order one so I tried on the next best thing.... a real one. I love the Super Avenger, Mont Datora, Sub (of course), and the DSSD.

First the 2 Giant watches are just that. I have an 8 inch wrist and they both look ridiculous. The super was very nice but just too big. Chrono avenger? yah no longer made.... the DSSD looks fantastic until you tilt it on it's side and look at the helium valve profile. It looks like a CHUNK of metal. I just don't get these smack you in the face giant watches these days. I can't be the only one.

The AD had the new and old stlye subs.
First up..old. This is the first time I've held a sub since I got into watches.(my dad had one) It felt... well cheap the clasp looked like a cheap no name from Walmart.
It was also way lighter than I thought it would be.
Next up..new style. new ratchet clasp like the DSSD and thicker lugs and stem gaurd. MUCH nicer but only comes in 2-tone so I'm still not feeling the sub.

Also looked at a rollie for the wife. Got her a datejust MOP diamond dial from Trevor last year and she loves it so I thought I'd price out a gen. $5800 for the base datjust watch. $4000 for MOP dial and $1850 for 10 little diamonds! Thats right folks the dial IS WORTH MORE THAN THE WATCH!

I'd love to read some posts about that beauty you ordered and really didn't like it. I'm sure it happens all the time.

I made sure I wore my IWC auqatimer from Watcheden as there isn't an AD within 300 miles.

Oh yah..the datora was nice.

And I agree... I have an 8" wrist also and the DSSD was just rediculously chunky. I gave it away.

Don't see how shopping at an AD would upset people. Now, going into an AD with a rep on hoping to fool the AD might get you a little "active" feedback.

I was also somewhat amazed how "cheap" the band and clasp felt on the gen submariner when I tried one on at the AD. The prices for gens...wow!

Haha well can also try wearing your rep by mistake and walk in to a really nice shop like I did...
Luckily they doesn't sell Hublot, so while Im looking at the Breitling Superocean Heritage and commenting how nice it is, the clerk responds "yes it´s really nice but no where near your gold Hublot, it´s really something to see it in real life"

I felt a slight tingling feeling of stress since I forgot to take it off, and a little embarrassed she might want to have a closer look...
So I thanked for the help and slipped out, but I know what will be a future rep or even a gen when I get the cash.
The Heritage is damn nic with the mesh

Ive forgotten ive had a rep on while stolling into ADs

I wear long sleeve shirts anyway - so they only get a glimpse

never had any strange looks - I really doubt they are thinking about reps while they try to sell you a $10k watch
