After consideration of reviews here, comparison of prices and apparent availability, I've decided to take the plunge for my first rep with Angus.

Placed my order for a Breitling Navitimer World (but you already knew that given my handle, right? :lol: ) at 3:28am EST 4/8/2010.

I'm getting the steel bracelet on mine, though.

No problem navigating the website (other than forcing myself not to order anything else!:wideeyed:); immediately received confirmation email for the order.

Received email stating "Your order #xxxx status has been changed to Payment Instruction Sent" 3:23am today. This is interesting, since I haven't received any other communications telling me how to pay (I intend to use PP, and stated this on the order). Sending a postcard, maybe? :confused: Sent reply email asking about this.

Don't get me wrong; I've purchased many items (including a few watches) from China, HK, Singapore, Phillipines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Eastern Europe, etc. etc. (I'm in the U.S.) I understand these things can take time (as in several weeks). I'm just accurately describing the experience...

Still waiting around tonight, wondering how to pay... will update as this order progresses.

has this changed, I thought when you check out you hit the PP and pay?

Guru: Don't think I did anything wrong; at the time I was confused myself as every other website I've ever used that took PP routed me there directly during the purchase. I assumed that they needed to do so because of the "lack of propriety" that previous purchasers have shown, endangering their relationship with PP. Whatever; we'll see what happens.

Guanaco: of course, I checked my junk mail folder. [email protected] and [email protected] have both been added to my safe senders list. By the way, the troll in your sig creeps me out. :wacko:

UPDATE: should have checked my inbox before coming here - got a note from Nikki Chen explaining the rules of the game a couple hours ago.

I must say the cloak and dagger tactics required for dealing with them make me a bit uneasy. Since their order system is unsecure and a spoofed email is possible, sending funds to an apparently unconnected email address at a generic email provider doesn't fill me with confidence. I would strongly recommend that they implement a secured ordering page.

Hope everything goes well for you mate. They are a trusted dealer so shouldn't be a problem but it is a leap of faith, sending your hard earned cash half way across the world....!

This week's update: got an order status update email 4/14 informing me Payment Confirmed, good to know that the payment to the seemingly random email address was received. Today, I got another Nikki Chen note thanking me for my order and telling me that it would be shipped in the next 2-3 days, and giving some shipping details.

I was under the impression that PureTime was emailing confirmation photos of the actual item being shipped to buyers before shipping, as some other dealers do; is this not the case?

No, not that I am aware off. I was under the impression that Pure Time is a drop shipper . Try MR next time

Yeah, I checked and I guess I must have read that a mod got that agreement (to send photos ahead of orders) from another dealer, which I confused with PT somehow. No problem.

Update on the situation: received tracking number Friday night, tracking has advanced to having the package in Chicago customs! So based on that, I could have it tomorrow, next month, or not at all. Any bets on my chances at this point?

Another update: USPS now says package is out of customs, and in my city! Should be here tomorrow! WOOT! :q::D::aneki::bunny::)

...and as expected, the watch showed up yesterday (4/22)! Two weeks exactly from order to delivery. I would call this overall a good experience with PureTime. Thanks Angus!

Unfortunately, I'm headed out of town today, so photos and a review will have to wait until next week. I'll start a new thread at that time. Suffice it to say for now that there are pluses and minuses to this purchase.
