and here is the full beauty shot of what I had on me today.

The pistol looks well worn because it is, this is my trusty everything gun that has been with me for quite a few years. Not necessarily the king of stopping power but not something you want to get hit with at 5 feet either :)

Nice, Vigil. I like the last group shot. The Fish looks right at home.

Yeah, its decided, having a run in with Vigil would prove unfortunate for the other person.

For some reason I felt it wanted to be there :D

Ok question...what is it that you do ?

It's Bond...Vigil Bond......

[now we need to add an Omega]

P.S. I just bought that same exploding Mont Blanc from Narikaa

I work in I.T. but I end up offsite in some not so great areas at times. Nothing work carrying around an MP5 for but its nice to have a little something when the bums get too pushy, too close, or too armed with a bat.

I just sold my Omega, or that would have been a great idea

A run in is find, but don't try to take my wallet at knife point - there's a good chance that's not what I'm reaching for when you ask for it. ;)

Nice irons, I have a G26 that is a perfect jacket/colder weather gun - still 3x the weight of my little FIE.

Hell I don't even like taking my knife to a knife fight.

truth be told I'd rather not be in a knife fight, hence the pistol :D

I have a concealed carry permit but never actually do carry! I like to shoot a full size 1911 best and that is the pistol I would want to have in any conflict but the handguns I like and shoot best are just too heavy to carry around all the time. So I don't. I have plenty of 1911 easily accessible around home but don't want to leave guns in a parked car. What use is a carry permit if you don't carry anything? Thus, I can see the utility of the Vigil's choice. At least you would have something with you when trouble surfaces unexpectedly.

I agree- 1911 is the way to go, but they can be a bit heavy for daily wear (that's why my Kimber is the 4 inch aluminum - for a 1911 it's very compact and light weight - and a suuuuper smooth trigger right out of the box to boot!!!).

Yup, thats the whole point you never plan on being surprised if I knew I had a chance to plan, say seeing an altercation on my property or such I have a few other choice firearms to grab.

If I didn't have this .25 I wouldn't carry as often as I do, especially when going into the city.

A lot of people are down on .380s and the like, but unless you're committed to carrying a full-size firearm (I carry a 5" 1911) then it's the way to go. The most effective gun is the one you have with you. If your "carry gun" is too unpleasant for you to carry then it's not gonna be of much value.
I only carry the one now but when my store was open I always had an SW 642 in an ankle holster as a backup.

I carried a Walther ppks for years with corbon +p rounds. @ a max of 10 feet that .380 just as good as a .357 mag in my option. And with the size of it provided easy carrying.

Prejudice against small calibers

I must admit I am prejudiced against any caliber smaller than 40 S&W and against any handgun not full size. The 9mm, 380, 25 and 22 just seem too small to me as do any handguns smaller than full size. BUT, I cannot stand to carry a full size handgun around on a daily basis, especially it I have to carry it concealed. So I carry nothing. Now how dumb is that? Certainly, even a 22 would be better than nothing! I am afraid my prejudice, based upon what I shoot well at the range, actually leaves me defenseless!

donaldejose, I'm with you on the concern over smaller calibers. Two points of reference:

1) People used to come in to my store, show me a scar and say something like "and here's where I was shot with a .380" or similar. NO ONE has ever told me about getting shot with a .45 ... I believe this is because they're not around to talk about it. :anopsis:

2) A customer/friend of mine was a bouncer back in the early 90s. He tossed an unruly drunk and the guy waited in the parking lot for my friend to get off work. When he walked out the door the guy shot him with a .22LR; my friend drew his .357 Mag and dispatched his attacker, then sat down on the steps and waited for the police and ambulance to arrive!
