Rolex Submariner - Meteorite Dial - 16610

Just found this on the Bay...

"Custom Made Meteorite Dial with luminescent markers. This is an original Rolex dial that we have had a professional lapidary apply a sheet of REAL meteorite to. The luminescent markers from the original Rolex dial were then reapplied. (Rolex is currently charging an extra $4000 to add meteorite to a dial)

Wait... "Rolex doesn't make a meteorite dial steel Submariner" you might be thinking BUT Watch Empire does. For those of you who think the black dial Submariner might be a bit redundant considering the watch is ubiquitous everywhere you look (or maybe that is just because I'm a watch dealer and all I see are watches) here is the watch for you. The meteorite dial looks immaculate on the Steel Submariner and best of all you can always be assured that no one will have this same watch. Here is an opportunity for you to transcend the monotony of every day life or at a bare minimum simply stand out from the crowd!!!"

Price:US $5,900.00

The beveled date window is awesome on this. That's the difference between making a dial just to tell time by and one that is a work of art...

I should get into screen printing. It shouldn't be that difficult, however getting fonts right and stuff is probably a pain in the back.

A slab of stone polished and cut and drilled ... not too difficult either. Thickness will be an issue, may be facilitated with CNC.

Printing on the stone ... can be done with decals.

Markers ... aftermarket.

So who can tell me where to get the font and correct marker positions? We could try that ourselves. For less.

Maybe we have a different understanding of "screen printing". It is actually a good method to transfer ink to porous surfaces. You have to manufacture a tool for that but it can be quite precise.

What other printing method would you recommend then, fakemaster?

MOP is good for the girls ...

Actually I was referring to printing on stone. Not imitating stone.

I have a stone mason in the family so I have access to granite and stuff. I'll see whether they can manufacture me thin discs. Then I just need to figure out how to attach the stone to the movement. Glueing is not an option. He said metal and stone don't mix.

come on, the challenge here is to make the movement and dial as one unit out of stone;) then no glue is needed.

Thats an awful lot of money for an old watch and an aftermarket dial...
How is such a dial allowed by Rolex? Nevermind...

I just saw a date just with this dial and diamond hour markers. Super sweet.
