Fakemaster built this Quartz Daytona for me. I think Quartz is great for the Daytona due to reliability concerns with other types of movements running the chrono subdials. Seconds run in the small subdial hand anyway so you don't see big jerks in the large second hand unless you are timing something, which - admit it - we hardly ever do. Please bear with me, I am just learning to photograph watches and post the photos. These turned out too large. But the detail is amazing, isn't it?

I have noticed many pleas for "post pictures" on RWI. I always enjoy looking at the photo also. So I am trying to learn how to take and post quality photos of the many beautiful replicas I have been able to obtain. Hope you enjoy them. Of course, all the credit really goes to Fakemaster who built this watch.

Other members may say that quartz has no heart but I have nothing against quartz. A beautiful watch is a beautiful watch. Great job by Fakemaster, and I´m sure he gave you a fair price...enjoy it!

A beauty indeed. I'm normally not a huge Rolex fan, but I'd buy that in a minute (and quartz makes it a total bonus). Good buy!!!

Good eyes and good humor

I never noticed that O until you pointed it out. I didn't even notice it when I examined the dial with a loupe. It goes to show you that the quality of the reps these days is really quite amazing, not perfect (even gens aren't perfect), but nevertheless amazing.

Mate, if you are going to take photos of that clarity and detail you can post 'em as big as you like! Nice work indeed, perfect focus, white balence is spot on and the subject is well presented. Very nice pics of another FM special. Stands up very well under that scrutiny too.

Can't wait to see a Blue Surf, a blackbird or something else with real "pop" thru your lense.

Damn, I am not a Rollie guy but that piece is a stunner. Even with the "O" issue. I did not notice it until it was pointed out.

Don't know what you are talking about. There is no play in those lugs. Tight as a frog's ass. Stop hatin'.

end lugs

I need to work on getting the bracelet to sit better when I photograph the watch. Right now my posing tends to exaggerate that gap.

Then that's one brutally ass f'd frog.

Sorry, I'm not hating but I will be ignorant if I say this is not a gap:

I don't wish to start an argument here or something but you should learn to take people's critique. I don't even know if this is normal for Daytonas but for me that just kills it

You are correct.

I just checked the watch. You are correct, there is a very small gap on that one side of the watch near the bottom of the SEL. That gap does not appear on any of the three other interfaces between the case and the SEL. While the top and middle of SEL is tight up against the case there is a slight inward curvature of the SEL on the bottom which creates that very small gap. Probably a quality control issue in the factory. They just aren't checking everything to tight tolerances.

However, in real life you never notice it. I didn't see it with my eyes or even with a loupe. Only when the watch is blown up ten times its normal size do you notice it. [like the O in the dial] From most angles you cannot even see it and from a foot or two away it just looks like a black line or shadow.

It is very interesting to blow up these watches 10 or 20 times their normal size and look for "flaws." Fun and interesting, but meaningless in the real word of wearing the watch on your wrist. The most amazing thing to me is that the quality is so extremely good you actually can blow up the dials as big as my photos and they still are beautiful. I do these photos to show the beauty and share it with others. If I did this with gens, without telling people they are gens, I am sure lots of people would find and point out a number of "tells." I can hear it now: "Screams Fake to me from across the room." If I had a bunch of gens I would take the photos and post them as reps just to see how many people would find the "flaws."

I looked at the photos once again. You really can see so much better in the photos than holding the watch in your hand. It all depends upon how the light is striking the watch. In the photos I see a similar gap on the right. Both sides of the bottom SEL have the same "gap." I honestly couldn't see the second one when I held the watch in my hands and looked earlier. But the photos told me it was there so I picked up the watch again and reflected light from the back through the bracelet which then illuminated the "gap." So I stand corrected, there are two gaps. Thought I would note this before someone posts a reply that indeed there is a "gap" on the other side of the SEL too. But don't you have to admit this is one beautiful watch?

I take critique just fine. But that issue doesn't have anything to do with me. It's the factory that made those endlinks. Same with the dials. All you can do is what you can with what you have. These are a work in progress. Sometines in the process of doing something you have to make things fit. And coming up with the right combination takes a long time. I have been working on this since December 2008. Sometimes you can get it perfect. Sometimes you never will. Especially when dealing with elements that were never meant to go together in the first place. don is actually seeing this progression firsthand and he's been very helpful.

@DJ I think these two comments say it all. Couldn't have put it any better.

As I said in another of the OP's threads, I am impressed with his acceptance of what this illegal hobby is and what it is not. More to the point, he seems to see what the gen community is and what IT is not.

Wisdom in him, I see. :yoda:
