Tudor 9411/0 Blue snowflake

The Tudor Submariners were somehow considered as minor brothers to the Rolex sub, most likely because they were initially thought and marketed as an affordable alternative by Rolex itself.

The first iteration released by the end of the fifites was ref. 7928, which was indeed essentially a submariner with a different logo.
In the following years though the Tudor brand and the Marine Nationale started a collaboration which lead to the development of the specific dial used in ref. 7016/0 (no date) and 7021/0 (date), and with the later introduction of ETA movements ref. 9401/0 and 9411/0.

The unique dial design with big square markers, matched with very visible wide hands resembling a snowflake (from which this watch takes its name) added a recognizable character to themTudor submariners, making them a highly sought after collectible both in their black or blue iteration.

For this build I choose the following set of parts:

- Vietnam full case set
- Faded cartel insert and pearl
- Athaya crown and tube
- Vietnam dial and hands aged and lumed by me
- Swiss ETA 2784

Here are a few more pics for you to enjoy

how much for the dial?
i think mq make a better dial for snowflake

is it hard to source gen tudor movement ?
i think it can be sold as gen if it has the gen movement

great build

MQ makes better dial? Maybe, let's see it :)
I think this one is pretty convincing in color, layout and crispness.
As for selling as gen, I want to believe you were just complimenting the watch. I would never let one of my watches be sold as gen, never. That's not what it's all about.

that's a very good job sir !

i've built a few 9401 / 9411 but all with phong 2824 re engraved movement (he says ETA but not sure that is)

i just bought a gen eta 2783 off the bay should get it within a week or so, i'm wondering if a 2824 tudor rep rotor would fit the 2783 eta?

thanks

if you have MQ case redone and aged with correct engravings, MQ dial for 2783 and hands relumed, gen movement that wont make it a gen, but surely will fool most watchsimth you will also need a good bezel insert

the gen movement will be the hard part tho :)

takes a lot of job and $$$ but hey, that is what we all like here and make this hobby a passion !

The 2783 and the 2824 ETA movements are obviously different:
The 27XX serie is earlier than the 28XX
the 2783 cal beats at 21.600 A/h and the 2824 at 28.800
But.... interesting if you wanna swap the right 2783 instead of the wrong 2824: the dial feets posiiton is different
2783: dial feets at 11 and 41
2824: dial feets at 12 and 42
So if you wanna fit a 2824 dial into a 2783 cal, it would be rotated (left side) for 5°
(PS the rotor would fit)
