thank you Sir .

I get the perfect mesurement on a microscope from my replica 76200 .The bezel look really like the one in your picture.
Stay tuned for the bezel but it is really simple to do for us.
I will make the first bezel today .

Last night i do a satin finish on lugs .
I will polish after i make the holes.

Are the holes 1.2 mm or 1.3 mm ???

This is the result for now

About the lug holes I would say 1.1mm ... but you'd better check the springbars you'll use ;)

I'm pretty interested to see the final result with the custom bezel.
Do you think you could make one like the pic below ?

Yes of course we can . We do parts really more complicated but the problem is that this will be expensive .
Engine turned bezel are simple to do but require a custom tool to use .I will ask to a customer the price for this tool . After that all is simple .
Making a smooth bezel is really the most simple .

So ... it depends how much expensive it is ,plus if there would be enough members interested to buy such a bezel

Those 1500/15000 engine turned bezels are sold from $130 to $150 shipped, in correct condition
One like the one on the pic, near mint condition, could be bought for about $200 to $240 shipped ... if you can find one

A lug detail ,
not so good and not so wrong

IMG-20191213-113827.jpg

That's good enough in my book.

Turning the smooth bezel is easy, it can even be done at home with a bit of preparation and base material. Also these can be bought for about $15 in reasonable quality. Fluted ones have their magic in the material (gold), otherwise well repped, so that doesn't seem like a point of interest.

Engine turned ones: 16030, 16220, 15010, 14010, etc. are the real challenge.
Of course one have to start somewhere, so please let us know the progress on the smooth. ;)

This is what I've designed so far on the engine-turned front:

Still trying to figure out a way to model those grooves in between the raised areas.

Dear the 3d model is not a problem . I work in a company that make pieces for the aerospace .
The problem is the small tooling needed for make the parts .

We are working on it.
The cnc will finish the smooth bezel soon.

The 3d model is indeed a problem in itself if you don't have the correct input. The engine turned bezels have at least 20 extra parameters compared to the smooth one.

Turning the model into instructions for a CNC and having the right tooling is a whole different set of problems :)

I'm using WSO 555s on 16030.
Even though I've never encountered one where a bit of bending/tweaking was not necessary.
I guess this has to do with the condition of the midcase: like 40 years of wear and polish.

first attempt for the bezel.
Need to be polished and we need to double check the mesurement .

First result

Not bad at all.

What measurements have you used?
Top ring - I lack the better word for it - measurement 'c' looks too thick. Other than that, it's quite nice.

Outer diameter looks a bit wide as well, perhaps only for this case.

Great work.

This is how it looks after make holes .
One holes is no good . Go to hight damn .
1.3 mm looks to big on my eyes . I will compare with my 16000 gen case .Next time i think 1.2 or 1.1 will be good

Waiting for the smooth bezel .

Apart of the huge lugholes, looks nice. Good job.
Since those holes look gaping wide, I'd say stay at 1mm diameter 1.1mm maximum.

I measured some high quality vintage spring bars for you, the kind that's designed for cases with drilled through lug holes: 0.85mm diameter on ends.

BTW Where did you get that crown? Does that fit the original crown tube threads? Looking good enough for a rep build. I'd buy some.

Thanks
