Identification help

Hi all,

I just bought this as a bit of fun on eBay have spent the past 4 hours attempting to try and find out what it is with no luck.

Can anyone help me try and identify this please? I'd ideally like to to make something out of it.

Dial size is 22.15mm
Movement size is 23.5mm

The movement in this one looks the closest I can find. Makes me wonder if it's not a Rolex movement.

At the beginning Rolex didn't make their own movements, right?

This arrives next week so when I get it I will post more pictures. From my research it looks like an early variation of the 'Prima movement'. Looks like some jewels are missing also.

Would love to put this is a 9ct gold ladies case and make a 20/30's style cocktail watch.

Here's a 1929 Rolex "Tank" whose movement certainly has a similar layout to yours:

The markings are different but the general layout and proportions are quite similar. Yours has ornamental engraving on the balance cock, whereas the linked watch does not. Does this mean yours pre-dates the 1929 RLX Tank? Hmmmmm....
