So..... I decided I want to build a 1675/16750, made a shopping list and started buying parts etc. This is what I got so far:

Gen insert
Gen 1675 dial
Gen 16750 dial
A2836 GMT
Yuki 1675 hands
Raffles DWO
Several movement spacers
DWO alignment tool (jerk)
Dial feet align/attach tool (bones)

I ordered a case from MQ, paid, they asked what serial# I wanted, replied, and now more than a week silence...

For the bracelet Im not sure, WSO or cartel? Pair it with a gen clasp.

For the hands I'm not really satisfied with Yuki, especially the hour hand tip. Anything better than Yuki?

Still not sure whether to go for 1675 or 16750! If I go the 1675 route I will have CHS. If I go 16750 I will not have CHS.
Problem is, I cannot build and see what I like better because the feet have to be cut, and that will decrease the value of a gen dial...

I don’t think you’d be happy with the wrong hand stack in the long run. Go for the 1675. And look into Clark hands. I prefer them to Yuki.

nice project, I would go for the CHs/1675, also your dail has the edge on the lumedots so it would be the correct dail for it.
1675 has a slowbeat mvt, yours is 28800 but who will notice?

Thanks, I checked Clarks but could only find replacement hands that fix gen Rolex movements. And the ETA ones look modern...

Yes I decided on that, and listed the other dial for sale.

I know about the slowbeat, but "everyone" says Rolex has a sweeping second hand haha!

Limer I think Im going for 5513's from HR, the merc hand has the correct (or at least better) shape.

Nice.

Go for gen hands.

Clark/WSO/Yukon hands are flat and not 3D like gen.

Gen hands make all the difference.

Post a WTB post on VRF and somebody will reply. Should be east enough to get gen service hands to match your gen service dial.

As for the case be careful with MQ. He sometimes sends out a different case from that pictured.

Ask him to take a few pictures of the case. If you’re not happy with the lugs/CGs, he will work with you to have them refinished.

In my experience the stock MQ cases (submariner and Sea-dweller) have thick lugs and CGs.....but MQ will fix that but only if you ask him.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input, but Gen hands wont fit an A2836 right? Also, 1675 don't have 3d hands right?

MQ already shipped the case, fingers crossed!

Here it is. How much work does it need?

Crown does not seem to be gen...

So no gen crown, and gen insert does not fit. At 950 euro I feel robbed!

So after reading yodog's thread again(comparison between cartel and vietnam 1675), I appreciate the vietnam case!
https://forum.replica-watch.info/for...oto-comparison

I managed to fit the gen insert by sanding down a tiny bit, without touching the paint.

Also I emailed MQ about the crown being gen or not. He apologised and refunded me €50

Is this fixable? Or should I contact MQ about this before attempting to fix this myself...

Well that's a lesson in who not to buy gen spec cases from - a fake crown sold as gen, the insert doesn't fit and the crown guards are damaged . . . Yes it fixable, but aside from the fact he shouldn't have sent it out like that, returning it to be repaired/replaced will inevitably cost you time and money - he won't pay for the shipping - at least not from you to him.

A lot of vietnam cases have badly finished inner cgs - mostly it is excess metal that was not smoothed out properly thus left with jagged edges. they just got lazy i guess. It is fixable, you can just try sanding the edge and then repolishing, not really a big deal.
