Vintage 5513 Submariner
A slightly different take

Hello gents, what I am presenting tonight is my latest 5513 build.

I was inspired by the dial to give the watch a very worn look, with some heavier than usual marks and scuffs. A real heavy duty watch.

Non-matching hands are reasonably common in the vintage Panerai world, while they are quite rare if not non existent in the Rolex world. I thohght they were looking just right in this build. What do you think?

Here is the parts list:

- Cartel donor watch reshaped, aged and polished. Lugs drilled for 2mm springbars
- Sternkreuz low dome T19 plexi
- Cartel insert faded to almost ghost, no pearl
- Vietnam dial with dark mustard markers, beautiful unique dial
- JK hands relumed and aged
- Strap made by an italian strapmaker found on ebay

Hope you enjoyed the reading and pics :)

Hello Kilowattore! Beautiful build congratulations! I'm doing another 5513 rep based on a Cartel case and your build is a good inspiration! :)

Excellent work! But I can't stand the watches with an hole in the insert...
A lot of "vintage" Sub are without the pearl... May I ask you why?
Thank you and congrats once again...

Pearl is simply glued inside the hole. It is easy to catch things with it and a bit of lift may be enough to make the pearl fall.

Right... but once the pearl falls I would replace it as soon as possible...
Seriously speaking... a lot of modders remove the pearl as "it is a well worn watch, hence the pearl is missing"...
Not in any of my watches...
BTW as said before, great watch... I love it!

I love it, inspiring me to finish a stalled build I have from a year ago....
