Rolex 5513 PCG gilt
What about stepping up another little notch?
What about stepping up another little notch?
Here I present you guys my first venture into the PCG modding of a 5512.
Long story short I was convinced by some of the discussion I read here to try one of the fabled vietnam dials, namely a gilt 5512 one, and thinking about the case mods to match it I realized I had to try a PCG mod.
I've been studying a lot on the gen references and I have seen different pcg shapes. This is not exactly what I wanted but I'm getting closer. Things I see now which can be perfected will be next time, and next time I'll see more things to perfect. I am a perfectionist with this stuff and will have it done better next time.
Here's the budget friendly (enough) list of parts used for this build and the mods performed:
- JKF 2813 donor watch, edges smoothened, lugs drilled, PCG
- Athaya crown and tube installed, tube hole chamfered to have the crown closer to the case
- Athaya pearl relumed
- Cartel bezel insert aged and gently bleached
- Smoothened bezel, tightened the inner washer so it rotates firmly now
- Tiger gilt hands aged and lumed
- Vietnam gilt 5513 exclamation mark dial - left as is (did such dial ever existed? I could not find a reference).
-Sternkreuz t39 plexi
- Vietnam/yuki rivet bracelet
