Here is a quick tutorial on how to fix a scratch on your PAMs crown guard without taking the crown guard off.
I badly scratched my crown guard recently and it left a polished line at the top portion of brushed look crown guard. I didn’t have any tools with me to take the guard off this weekend, so I used some creativity and the results were great.
Things you will need:
Masking tape
3M Scotch brite (maroon colour for auto paint finish)
Fine grit sandpaper
All cost me about 10 CAD

Ok so with your masking tape, tape the area off really well. You can destroy your polished bezel and the pin in the crown guard if you don’t take care at this stage
Here are the different refinishing pads and sandpaper I used. I started with 350 grit sandpaper and worked my way up to 800 grit. You can work your way up to 1500 grit, but to be honest there is no need for this. I finished it off with the scotch brite. Depending on how deep your scratch is, you only want to do 5-8 passes with each grit sandpaper and about the same with the scotch pad.
Take care to not over do it, as you can round off the crown guard edges and be very careful not to sand your polished bezel. I cut out small pieces of each grit and scotch brite to help control the passes. Make sure to rub the crown only in one direction with the sandpaper and the scotch pad, making sure to follow the pre existing brush lines
The final product came out better than i thought it would, and I did this without even taking the crown guard off.
