This has been explained on several Gen forums but never seen any pictures of the job in progress.
This is pretty useless for rep guys as there are no bronze reps yet but this is more of a watch place than a rep place in my eyes anyway.
Assembling the troops. Gloves, plastic dipper unit - I used a flosser with the string removed- popsicle stick for mixing, 2 containers - one for the stinky stuff and another for the baking soda neutralizer. I ordered a product from a Canadian online retailer close to me called liver of sulphur. I have read many places that the gel form is the most stable and stinks the least as opposed to the rock form. It still smells horrible once you dilute it in water BTW. The watch showed up from Helson way shiny. Really nice watch.
I added about ten drops to this container and a alot of baking soda to the other.
The technique I found that worked the best was dipping and checking, dipping and checking, until i was satisfied with the color. Side note.....start with a very clean watch or it will be much darker in the areas that are starting to tarnish allready. The whole process can be removed with lemon juice if you take this too far aswell.
I started with the buckles to get my technique right before going on to the watch.
Here is the watch head just before heading into the neutralizing bath. Even after you remove it from the LOS bath it will continue to tarnish to a solid black unless you neutralize it so when you get the color you want it has to go straight into baking soda.
Here are the patients in recovery.
Really turned out nice in the end and could not be happier with the results. The look and finish of the parts keep changing and i love it.
More photos of the finished watch can be found here http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/helson-bronze-shark-127862?p=1252148
