Tudor Pelagos Bezel Issue

I bought a Pelagos in M2M on RG and it has a flawed bezel. I knew this before buying, so nothing on the seller here.

Looks almost like there is a clear plastic piece that sits on top the bezel and it is coming up on the sides. I can push it down and the light spots go away. I took a blow dryer to it and its been looking pretty good since. You can see the areas it appears to be coming up on the pic below along the left side of the bezel.

My question is, am I correct in thinking there is a plastic piece on top of the bezel? I am going to assume it is what the lume is on, vs being in the bezel itself like on gen. Has anyone taken it off?

I was thinking of trying to peel it off and re-glue it, but I feel I would probably do more harm than good.

Also, anyone been able to find gen bezel inserts for the pelagos?

I remember seeing a member who had used rubbing alcohol to remove the matte coat on the bezel, and it fixed the issue you are having. I was considering doing the same if I ever bought one.

Yes I've done the same, I assume the piece of plastic is the matt coating on the bezel, I rubbed it off and it looks 100% better now.

Okay here's the thing. Source a gen bezel is impossible, it's impossible to source. I had the same problem, and even got it worse... I tried to clean it with a cloth and ended with a discoloration due to the cloth on the bezel lume...

After trying soap, toothpaste and everything the solution came from a simple sponge and dishwasher soap i rubbed hard the bezel and ended up cleaning the lume and the bezel it worked really well without degrading the bezel ! Mine was a ZF version. So hope that it will help you buddy :/
Otherwise a brand new bezel from toro costs 65$+shipping

I will be interested to see the results, especially since I was the seller. I will say it seems to go away when damp, very strange issue. I assumed it was wear but maybe there is something in the bezel.

Seems to be a common problem with ZF!

Just wonder the gen black Pelagos bezel color is also matted black? Seen photos on net it seems the gen black bezel very striking compare to ours matted black, don't you guys think so or it's only me?

It's definitely not a shiny ceramic like a Rolex sub, it's looks mat to me!

Here's a gen picture.

Glad I found this tread.
@magoohkg @2fake4u @MySharona hope you can help me out.
I just received QC pics and my TD pointed out the bezel discoloration.
I want to accept it if I can clean the entire bezel with acetone as pointed here and in blue pelagos tread, can you please help me out?
Also, do you have to watch not to go over the markers on the bezel due to lume?
This is a V6F version and she already went to them and they told her she is too picky

looks like the acetone would work to clean it up. It does not mess up the lume. It is a thin plastic layer on top that separates from the bezel that needs to be removed.

@DuckaDiesel, the acetone hasn't affected the lume on mine at all, it doesn't smudge and I didn't worry about removing the matt layer with it. Mine was a ZF version.
Good luck!

Thanks its actually worked. I cant remember which verison i bought. It came with tag with chinese symbol and a XF or ZF print on it. And after a year coating started to peel off. Rubbing alchochol worked and now its even finish.
Before. You can see its all over the bezel.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I used this method and I think I overdid it with the alcohol and the lume has come off in certain areas. Can someone point me in the direction to getting a good new bezel insert? Thanks in advance!

Simply relume it with BGW9!
It will be very difficult or even impossible to source a bezel insert.
