As noted in TZ, this nickel plated version is different from the gold plated we usually see in most reps, and that the gold planted is more expensive. Is that true? If so, why is it more expensive? Is there a functional advantage in the gold-plated ones?

Also, 2836-2 are day-date movements, while most dealers specifies that their swiss movement for Subs are ETA 2836. Why not ETA 2824-2?

Are there Asian movements that are produced with ETA markings? I want a ETA replica and I am concerned because they seem to be very close in price. Looking at a Omega Planet Ocean GMT

Yes, Asian clones with counterfeit ETA markings are quite common. The common wisdom is: don’t pay extra for Swiss movements from China, you’re just paying for the fake stampings or else you’ll get an old ETA rebuilt with Asian parts.
