Dear movement experts,

I don't know whether I am in the right forum to ask this. I was wondering what is the main difference between the two? Is the 23j serviceable? Or it was like 21J: if it works then it works; it fails then becomes junk.

It's usually more time saving to just replace the entire Asian movement considering their cost..

The DG2813, the basic movement in lower end reps has 22j, not 23j or 21j, as does the high beat DG4813, and the GMT DG4803B.

The only reason people say the 21j (sic) movements are not serviceable is because it doesn't really make financial sense to pay somebody $65 to service a $35 movement - unless you are able to do the service yourself of course. It's cheaper to just buy a new movement.

Also they are more difficult to re-assemble because they were never designed to be disassembled.

21J/23J are the same. a DG2813 or variant.
