Hello all, I am not sure is this is allowed but mods, please let me know if I have violated any rules. There are two dials for sale claiming to be gen AP royal oak for 41mm. Can someone with expertise chime in? On the white one the 12 o’clock markers look misaligned.

Both are genuine.

in the end it is a handmade product and tolerances can show up like this.

It could possibly be that it is a factory‘s second... many of the parts available on the bay are flawed and come from the „bin“ (may the damage occurred at the factory or afterwards by a third party watchmaker...)

Thanks for the fast reply. Do you know what’s the average people pay for a gen dial? Would they fit a rep case and movement?

i've seen damaged used gen dials for 350 bucks... and then there are also over priced ones at 1.500 bucks...

I cannot say what the average customer has to pay as i don't know any statistics of consumer habits when it comes to the acquisition of gen AP dials hehe ;)

But i would say anything near 1.000 bucks minus 300 in some cases is reasonable. But in the end a dial is worth what the consumer is willing to pay.

a collegue bought one for 850€, but it wasn‘t new...

it was from a watchmaker in town. The movement had a Write-off.

What movement did you attach it to? Did you have to shave the feet?

If you dont plan to sell the gen dial you can cut the feet. Otherwise it is also possible to drill holes into the plates - but dont quote me on that haha
