Hi there, I normally go with Japanese movement for my subs but the person I usually deal with does not have the no date sub, I have found it online but most seem to be Asian Eta 2836-2 Automatic Movement, normally I think of asian movement as the sub par compared to Japanese or the Swiss Eta, but have not heard of Asian Eta before. How does it stack up against Japanese and Swiss?

Thanks

from my limited experience, their is no such thing as a "japanese movement".
Just Swiss movements and their Asian clones.

What "japanese movement" is it you normally have.

The asian 2836-2 beats at 28,800 vph so is super smooth and is 99% of the time very reliable.

the next best movement i believe is the selitta SW200 which is quite a bit more expensive.

If your usual movement is neither the 2836 or sw200 then i would predict it to be a 2813 which is probably the lowest grade movement out their. They can be very reliable. They can last a couple of weeks. you never know. And they beat at 21,600 vph ( i think) so they dont sweep as smooth.

Go with the 2836. You will not be dissapointed.

The a28** ETA clones are really quite good...imo by far THE choice for a lot of us for the simple fact that ETA's are becoming so scarce, alot of times a older re-used movement and/or sooo expensve. A high percentage of the clones (Asian Clones) can accept ETA parts, and are competely serviceable and quite good...the Sellita brands are just clones of ETA movements as well. You can buy with confidence for sure.

Miyota man......

Japanese automatic movements, such as Miyota, Seiko, and Orient are all excellent. But I've never heard of them being available in a rep from any dealer.
If I had to guess, I'd say the dealer you normally buy from may have been scamming you.
Anyway, the A28xx movements are arguably as good as the Swiss Eta 28xx movements. Most watch smiths can't even tell them apart.

Yes, similar to them, I prefer the A2836, sweeps nicer and smoother. Love it!

By the way Levelmanroger, here is one of a rep datejust that was given to me by my friend's brother almost 10 years ago. I never had a chance to wear it as it has a very lousy unadjustable jubilee bracelet. The dial face was made of hard glossy paper lol. I messed it up last week while trying to reinsert the crowns back. And guess what, I reckon this is powered by the Miyota 21J movement. Have look for yourselves guys!

I've got a Miyota 21j that came out of any old Sub. Runs like a top.

It wouldn't surprise me though if they rep'd the Miyota movement. A rep of a rep!

Most of the A21j movements are Miyota clones but I'm not sure it makes sense to rep a $25 movement with a $15 movement.

Since this year they have the miyota 9015 in the subC date. Miyota is very reliable for what i have read and i think they are more reliable then the A2836-2. But the A2836-2 is a very good movement on its own, keeps perfect time and i had no problems with them in the past

Most of the TDs told me to go with the 2836 movement, as they have with other members.

Just as reliable but at a fraction of the cost.

Of course if you have deeper pockets, then maybe one could consider getting a BK or TC Sub.

Hi, I have seen many rep sites in here as recommended, but prices are very different from 150 to 400USD. I am really looking for a good seller and reasonably priced. Many thanks. Canny
