Rolex Pepsi turns red under UV light?

Hello RWI,

After almost 6 months reading threads on this forum, and after 4 months as a member, I have to say it is a pleasure to be here and to be able to "steal" some of your knowledge! Thank you for that opportunity!

Now... I have stumbled upon a video on instagram, showing that if you put Rolex Pepsi under UV light, it turns red! I am very curious to see some of you guys puting this one to the test. Personaly, I think it is some kind of scam, or some kind of mod done to bezel insert, but who knows?!

It’s not a scam, the bezel does indeed change to all red. The Pepsi bezel is originally all red then the blue is applied to it.

Nice first post, and YES, the Rolex Pepsi is originally painted red and then the blue is applied to the top half, which is why a genuine Rolex Pepsi is a bit more blue/purple than it is true blue. I actually think an all red bezel would be an interesting addition to the GMT lineup. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Don't need a UV light for this one, lol. I love a red bezel on a GMT. There are aftermarket ceramic ones too.

You Sir are famous for your custom build watches. That's what I would do too, if I had enough watchmaker's knowledge and money to experiment! When R factory is not inventive enough, someone have to take step forward.

I saw this on some Hodinkee video or someone else from Baselworld in 2018. It was shown as a security feature along with the warranty card doing something clever under UV
