Need good brass or steel pin material for clasp pin fabrication. It is .027" diameter or .07mm . Any source appreciated.

Got some .027 drill rod stock from my gunsmith. I will have to anneal it to make it more malleable. Hope is works. Hard to believe there is so little info on this situation since most all watches use bracelet pins of this type? I think a gold pin is overkill for cost and for material strength? Don't know what Rolex uses on solid gold bracelets?
