Hello all, Im just about to close on a Noob sub and have received the QC and wondered if i could lean on you guys for some advice. Two things have stuck out with the pictures. First thing is the Cyclops alignment. Does it look off centre to you guys or is it just the angle of the pic.

And second the timing. This is an area I dont have a clue about but based on other QCs I have seen it looks a little high? Is 12 seconds a day considered within reason?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

The cyclops does appear slightly tilted counterclockwise. Sometimes the crystal itself can be rotated to offset that but it impacts the cyclops/date window relationship and the LEC position too. And in any case it's no small task to rotate a crystal 1 degree clockwise. You will have to decide if the misaligned cyclops is bad enough to ask for another watch. I have accepted watches where it was as bad or maybe a little worse. It's not going to the very noticeable IRL. And you risk other issues being present on another watch.

Regarding the timing see the chart.

Thanks for the response. Yeah you are probably right its just me being hyper critical re the cyclops on wrist it will be unnoticeable. As for the timings Ive spent the afternoon looking it up and found the information that you kindly supplied too. Looks like 12s/d is on the upper end of acceptable and the rest look spot on which makes me very happy. Thanks again for taking the time to let me know. Have a good one!

Most of the reps cyclopses are slightly missaligned. You will have to reject a lot until you find a perfect one, and then the watch could have other issues plus your td will hate you. I'd personally green and see irl, it might not be very noticeable. If it is, crystals are one of the relatively cheaper things to replace so you can buy gen or prof and you will have perfect cyclop plus much better crystal anyway.

I have greened a watch with what appeared to have a crooked 12 hour marker. I have made a couple of posts here complaining about it and I was negative even before I have received the watch itself. When I have opened the box, I have realized that it is not visible even if you try super hard, you can see this only on macro photos. So I would not stress this much.

I have just GL'd it! The genuine crystal idea is not something I had considered but sounds like a good move. Cheers for the feedback.

It could be a fleck of dust but there appears to be something (maybe a scratch) on the bezel to the right of the 30 but closer to the 25 marker.

regards to misalignment, I have a GMT Master II with cyclops misaligned worse than this and while I intend on having it fixed, it doesn’t bother me too much.

Not a scratch on the insert, that's why they switched to ceramic.

I had noticed that I’m fairly sure it’s a hair. Ceramic is black all the way through so a scratch shouldn’t show up like that.
