I got my 116500 Noob v2.2 about 4 months ago from Puretime. My first impression was not great.
The overall feeling of the watch is off. It´s very top heavy, and the bracelet/clasp feels like a toy. The edges are sharp, it rattles, the brushing and shape is off, and it’s not comfortable on the wrist.
I was very impressed with the movement and the dial, I got a good one, and imo no one is going to spot the difference with this and a gen. Mine was of course the version with the serif R
After doing a lot of research here, relying on all the old-timers advice and guides, I did a bit of modding, and I’m very happy with the end result. To me, it’s now a very different watch then the one I received 4 months ago
I started with a CF bezel, wow does it make a difference. I compared it to a gen Daytona and imo there is no difference if you don’t put them under a micro lens. The platinum really makes it pop!
I ordered a AFR bracelet/clasp from puretime (2 months shipping time, remember to choose express ) I thought I would use the clasp only since the SEL fit seems to be a 50/50 shot.
I also got a set of “gen” spring bars from Everest. (The ones from noob are pure garbage, it causes SEL gaps)
My new ARF bracelet was a pretty good fit at 6, but at 12 there was a tiny gap, the new spring bars helped A LOT! A put a little bit of Loctite on each side of the SEL and let it dry for about 15 min. It creates a thin layer on the SEL that eliminates the gap, and pretty much left me with perfect tight SEL´s imo
Overall I’m really happy with the watch now, there are no more things that irritates me, and I can enjoy wearing it It’s some pretty easy and inexpensive mods that really is a huge difference. The watch just feels RIGHT now, the weight is better balanced, the fell/touch is like the gen. You can do everything yourself, if you get some inexpensive tools on Amazon, and thanks to the guides here on the forum, everything was a breeze…
For comparison I had a gen Daytona, and a gen no date sub.
CF bezel from @jtimewatch. watch and ARF bracelet form @puretime . Spring bars from Everest https://www.everestbands.com/collect...ar-1-8mm-thick
Tools: Watchpress from amazon, spring bar tool from Amazon
And thanks to, among others: red1 M Scott and Tobel for some great guides
If you need more info or help with anything, let me know, hope you can use my experiences
