Just finished, well for the time being my 1680 jkf Tiffany dial. Watch is mostly stock. Except for hands and bracelet which were both damaged. Anyways case is extremely re shaped to a over polished look and the dial has been re lumed and had the minute track removed. I think it’s a sort of cool touch. The bezel is sanded down quite a bit as well. Lemme know what y’all think.

Over all the watch looks pretty good - you went a little too far on the lugs, and the CGs aren't quite right in shape, but if you'd got it right the very first time you would have been the exception.

Taking metal off is easy, but it can't be stuck back on. . . .

tripdog Thanks. The cg’s came like that from a previous owner. I haven’t ever had much luck with them. I’ll try to shap them more when I order a 702. But for now it’ll be fine. I’ll try again on another case with a little less removal. Thanks for the advice.

NIce! How did you made the texture on dial? And how did you remove the minutes?

Take a little out of the inside of the guards close to the Bezel. Too rounded in there. Should be sharper inside corners. Have a good look at a Gen 1680 and you’ll see what I mean. And also file down the sharp edges of the bracelet to match the “wear” on the case. Other than that it’s pretty good for a first attempt.

Dizzy Thanks for the advice. I don’t have any tools that can get up in there for the CGs I’m assuming stem removal is almost necessary. And I haven’t thought of doing anything to the bracelet. That’s something I missed for sure. I have another case I’m going to try again when after I think of a better plan at what I want. This one was a burner case I had in a drawer for a year or so. I just ground it down with a
dremel and six pack one night.

Dizzy tripdog round 2 on another case. I tried to keep a good sharp angle from the top of the lugs down to the sides so I could still have a brushed look. No work done on the top of the lugs and less throughout. Removed the stock stem and bought a athaya 702. I messed up the threads though and will have to re tap the tube hole. How’s this one look? More pics when I finish.

So a little bit of progress on the build. Decided to go with a 5513. My favorite Rolex by miles.
Bezel-watchman aftermarket:polished
Insert-stock cartel: sort of matte finished with bleach
Dial- Vietnam (Tiffany and co) had to re lume due to a plot falling off. Then I applied some vintage color. I think it looks better than the yellow though.
Case- jkf 1680 modded by me. Needs better polishing though. I’m not very good.
Crown- athaya 702. Cure sitting in alum dissolving a broken stem. I know I’m not the first one. Lol

Lemme know what y’all think

Nice build, good luck! Could you tell me what flaws mine has? I think the cyclops is a bit too far to the right and the markers are too yellow

The lugs on the stock 1680/5513 are way to fat. Shape them up and do the crown guards as well. Just google some pics of genuine 1680s and try your best. For the date window; it’s easier for me to just go with a no date dial. Eliminates the flaw entirely and frees you up to get a Vietnam dial on eBay

Will do. Thank you very much!
