I stand with the VRF LV ootb, nevertheless i'm more of frankens, so a Noob is my choice for LN.

Hi. New to rwi. considering getting a ARF 116610 LV with 2824 movement. however, considering i might franken a gen date wheel in the future, is the 2824 compatible with gen parts? or do i need to get the 3135?

Welcome to RWI.

2824 is not compatible with gen parts. Factories outfit date wheels with a "date wheel overlay," essentially a little wheel of metal glued to the date wheel, to mimic the genuine font & positioning.

You would need a 3135 clone movement to accept gen parts. Outfitting an SH3135 with gen date wheel takes some very light modding, just a little fiddling, but then it works.

You can actually use a gen datewheel as a datewheel overlay in an ARF 2824, but it needs to be sanded down. Gen crystal would also work so you can build a nice franken out of it. Hands however would not work

I’ve read you can separate the paper from metal disc on a datewheel. Anyone try this?

Skupik, for someone that started a thread entitled “Ultimate Replica Showdown” you don’t appear to have had much input and I’m still waiting for you to assist me in buying the best submariner. ????

The best case is the v6s and the v9.then the gmf then the bp then the vrf then the arf
the best dials are from bp And gmf and vrf
the best hand sets are from arf
the best ln insert imo is from arf
the best lv insert imo is from noob and vrf
the best xtal is probably from arf still sucks though
the best date disc is from noob imo still sucks though
the best calibre is sh3135 imo still can be sucky though

the best 97200 bracelet is the v6s along with the arf .The rest are trash
the best out the box is a hard question to really answer as it depends what flaws you don't mind living with
