Black is more “black” and there is no harsh transition. Blue is more darker as Gen.

How straight forward is the insert swap? No mods needed, just replace V9 insert with the aftermarket one?

The Molotow mod will not work well on this insert. The marker engravings are too shallow and they are filled almost full with white paint. I dug out all the white paint on mine, only to find very rough bottoms to the marker cuts. I then had to build it back up with white primer and THEN do a Molotow mod. I had to re-do the triangle 4 or 5 times, it very difficult to get it uniform. And what I've ended up with is a temporary Molotow job which will wear off a whole lot sooner than your hard white enamel. Really not worth all the trouble. My advice is leave it alone and enjoy it as is. The Molotow will not last a day on top of the full white markers.

there is no big visable difference....904L GMT II c bracelet is pretty the same like the 316L. Same rattling, same poor security clasp, same weight

No really agree with that... the bracelet is MUCH nicer than 316, no rattling and clasp is very solid and secure.

I have both and v9 with that insert is really good in my opinion.

Really easy job, just be aware that it flowed to the bezel and unlike YouTube vids showing its a snap removal. You simply need to heat it with heat gun, 20cm length at least, and it will simply go off. Than just a little heat to the glow and stick the new one on. Simple as that.
No mods needed.

It’s a must upgrade/mod imho.

Bezel simply “light” the watch and you won’t take your eyes after that lol
