Hello everyone.

Today i tried to install a gen second hand on my milgauss arf sh3131 but it does not seem fit.
The tube of the stock hand is longer and the gen is much shorter which prevents me to installing it.
I always thought that sh313 could install gen hands.

Is there something that I do not understand or do I have to add a gen second pignon ?

If you have feedback on this, it would help me a lot.

thank you in advance.

Sorry for the quality of the photos but it is difficult to take a picture with the phone through the magnifying glass.

That looks like a ETA seconds hand. Way too narrow and way to long. Can you take a pic of the movement and post it please. I know you know the difference I just want to see if they are using as a seconds wheel. Thanks.

I thought that by changing the wheel of the seconds hand by a gen whose axis could be slightly longer, it would allow me to put the gen second hand.

After trying again, I realized that all the gen hands are different from the stock hands (second, minute and hour) not just the seconds hand.

In fact at the beginning, I wanted to install only the gen seconds hand but not the hour and minute gen hand to not have a difference of lume (my gen hands certainly come from a white dial that seems to have a lume color different).

So I removed the dial for various tests and the second hand fit when I remove the other hands.

I thought the problem came from the stock hour and minute hands which was too high on the stem and left no more room for placing the gen second hand.

thinking I could not do it anyway I still tried to install the gen hour and minute hands second and it fit without the dial but with the dial the hour hand scratched on the dial.

I finally put the stock hour and minute hands and press them down forcefully to just leave room for the second gen second hand.
It worked but the second hand was moving as soon as I moved the watch a little hard.

I disassemble the whole thing again and pinch the tube of the gen second hand with pliers and this time it was good, everything stays in place.

So now, I’m very happy with my new gen second hand that I spend a half day to fit :)
I did no like the orange color and the shape of the stock

A gen or a DJF crystal and to me we have a nearly perfect milgauss rep

Nicely done. The hands can certainly be fiddly with such tight tolerances....it is a definite improvement. I am waiting for the DLF Z Blue with green crystal to come out with the 3131 movement and I plan on doing the same....Thanks for sharing.

Are you waiting for a DJF or a ARF ?
Because DJF have a good crystal but the movement is a eta clone 2824 and gen hands can’t fit
If you are waiting a arf, you can fit gen hands with with more or less ease but the crystal is off.

To be honest, I’m a little bit disappointed by the DJF crystal.
it is only the lower part of the crystal that is green. the upper part is transparent.
So the crystal is not green when you look at the extreme side of the crystal but there is a green teint like on the gen crystal
Although not very gen like, I started to like the AR coating of arf crystal.

I bought a complete hands set on chrono24 because the color and shape of the seconds hand is off.
Unfortunately the hour and minute color is superluminova (green) and not chromalight (blue).
if I understand correctly, the color of the lume has changed some time ago but this information remains to be verified or maybe the hands set came from a white dial milgauss.

The arf hands are not too bad so until I send the gen hands to relume I stay with arf hands.

Also I hate to touch the hands, I'm always afraid to damage them or scratch the dial.

recently I installed a gen crystal bought from a member here and sincerely this crystal is beautiful, much more than the crystal of DJF. I could watch it for hours without getting tired.

However, DJF crystal remains by far the best cheap alternative for milgauss.

That's impressive the gen crystal looks so damn good. Can you take a pic show the comparison of the gen and DJF crystal? Thanks

On the post number 7, it’s DJF crystal on ARF case an the post number 11, it’s gen crystal on ARF case.

I can not anymore take pictures of DJF crystal because gen crystal is on my ARF case now.

Gen crystal is 500 to 800€ and it’s quite hard to find.
The is one chrono24 but it’s 800€ if I remember well.

In any case, DJF crystal is quite good for the price 65/70€ + shipping

Get some good brass tweezers. They won’t scratch steel so you can use those to touch the hands or rodeco but rodeco will def leave a smudge so you have to be ready to give it quick swipes with a piece of cloth that will not leave lint.

In a pinch, you could put a layer of masking tape on regular tweezers and use those to not scratch the hands but they could get sticky so make sure the tape is on there good.

If you need help with luming the hands, I can help you out. I have some white lume powder that glows blue. It won’t glow like a torch like a gen but it will be the correct color. Luming those hands are fairly easy. Much easier than seating them. Lol.

Where can one find the DJF crystal separate?
