Hey all - a little help here if you please. I just purchased this one from TT. When I pull the stem out to change the time and turn it, the stem moves about 1/16th before it starts. And then its fairly stiff. I can turn the stem back and forth when I pull it out which tells me something is a miss. Any help is appreciated. Ive emailed "Andrew" with TT but am getting the run around. I think this might be a lemon.

Don't really understand the question - 1/16 of what - a foot, a meter ? a full turn of the crown?

So can you adjust the time or not ?

With some difficulty, yes. Thats not really the point.

Then what is your point ?

You asked for help, you say the crown moves about 1/16 of a turn before it engages the gears and the hands move and it's tight to turn.

If somebody asks you questions, asks you to describe the problem in more detail then it's possibly because they need more information before giving their opinion/advice/ possible solution.

Im simply asking how to fix the issue. The stem should not be moving that far before it engages. Do you know what the problem is and how to fix it?

I know what you're asking - you don't seem to understand what I'm asking.

Your car doesn't start, I ask you if the starter motor is turning over, you say 'yes, but that's not the point'.

I ask you are the spark plugs sparking, is there a beginning of ignition/combustion in the cylinders when the motor turns over, you say 'yes, but that's not the point' . . . .

Take it to a watch maker, there's probably something in the keyless which isn't seated properly.

One word of warning. You cannot change out the bezel insert on this, so what you see is what you get. The entire piece, including the glass come out in one piece. Kind of stupid, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Never met a Rolex rep I couldn't get the insert out of and put a different one in, I don't buy that. But as to the original problem, like tripdog said there is likely a problem with the keyless works. Or in one of the pinions around the stem (winding pinion, sliding pinion). To get to the keyless works, the movement has to be removed from the case and the dial and hands have to be taken off. Look at this video if you want to see someone disassembling the keyless works. This is what would need to be done to further troubleshoot your issue in an effort to correct it.

Fast forward in the video to about the 5:10 point.

BTW Yepper , tripdog is the technical section moderator, so you might want to think about editing your post.

LOL, all that's happened is the bezel assembly and crystal have come off together - you need to dismantle them by separating the bezel ring from the retaining ring and the crystal gasket and the crystal. The bezel insert can be remove quite easily - even by somebody as stupid as Yepper - although he'd never be able to get it back together again.
