It seems clear to me that we have a new revision of the 5.4mm DG2813 (the 4813 is about 4.6 mm) on the rep scene. This probably has happened due to the ETA shortage.

Check this out: 21J movements from my junk drawer:

All three - note the size of the balance wheels:

For the next pics... take note the edge of the balance to the edge of the movement chassis. The pics are a little blurry (iPhone...SORRY) but I think they show my point.

Known Slow Beat 2813 (Had a typical 21j tick-tock sweep):

Sold to me as fast beat (I don't believe it for a second, had a VERY lumpy sweep, even worse than the silver one)

Known 28800 beat rate (I have another one just like it in my SSD.. the sweep is virtually indistinguishable from ETA)

Josh/Andrew's 21J GWSD (claimed to be 28800)

What do you guys make of that?

I thought I heard from someone that there are basically 4 of these DG movements.

DG 2813-1
DG 2813-2
DG 4813-1
DG 4813-2

The Dashes are meant to signify the beat rate. I could be wrong though.

I'm guessing I need to buy one of these, and get it over to a watch maker to put on the time-o-graph!

:)

According to Josh, these are a new movement designated the A2813. (They aren't all new, but just a new config)

Time-O-Graph from the same site as the bottom pic above:

Still confusing, 21j with 21600 or 28800?

Fine, so..... among these ,what is the best movement to have in your rep? I would value reliability and accuracy over smooth sweep.

The DG series we are discussing consists of 4 models.

The DG2813 dash 1 and dash 2. 21.6BPH and 28.8BPH
The DG4813 dash 1 and dash 2. 21.6BPH and 28.8BPH

I know that the 4813 has 2 different beat rates because I have one from Otto which is low beat and I know there is a few reps that had a high beat version of this movement.

Same goes for the 2813. We have seen both slow and fast beats in this line.

So I think there is something significant to the the dashes. ;)

R2, I have also discovered that ofrei's 4813 is a low-beat. I had to jump through major hoops to use the ofrei movement in a no-date I built and after all was said and done it was the same as the movement I took out!!! >:-| What a rip!! The Eurotimez high canon 4813s sweeps noticeably smoother than the ofrei 4813 or the 2813s I have.
