Hey guys,
So here's a long project that was just completed. I started this journey back about 6 months ago - it took about 4 months to source a proper 6542 GMT movement. Another 2 months to source the rest of the parts and put it all together. As many before me have said, this is one of the hardest build to do. I have to say, after building various daytonas, save for a fully converted Daytona build, this has got to be the hardest project out there.
For the 6542, everything matters - chamfered lugs, engravings, sourcing a genuine small GMT hand set, getting the movement (they're about as rare as unicorn tears), and of course also a key factor: case thickness. A genuine 6542 is a very slim watch so it's one of the things I have to keep working with the case maker. In the end, I give you my 6542 Pan Am!
TheSociety Case-set (bakelite bezel, engraved caseback)
TheSociety Pan-Am Dial
GEN Rolex Cal. 1065 GMT Movement
GEN Rolex Roulette Date Disc
GEN Rolex Small-Arrow GMT Handset
GEN Rolex Brevet Cross Crown
GEN Rolex 115 Crystal
Seems like a small list but most of the parts are incredibly rare and the whole project took 6+ months and a hell of a lot of man hours But all worth it for one of the most elusive watch and an incredibly fun and rewarding project!
And some of its siblings! [emoji4]
