I'm a bit obsessive with the 5517, but I think the case and dial are awesome. MAYBE bleach the insert A TINY BIT and that is all good.
I am particularly sensitive to the hands. Those are not Seamaster 300 hands (well the seconds hand anyway) as I have gen Seamaster 300 hands on my Seamaster 300 project. I have never seen that seconds hand before.
Anyway, if you search for gens on line, you will see the minute hand just hits the minute track of the dial- it is shorter than the one you have. (mine is too long as well). The hour hand is probably by fine, and I wouldn't mess with it. The seconds hand- that is where you really seperate the great ones from the also-rans. I am defecit in this department as well. The gen seconds hand has a very unique shape. The point is curved (concave) ever so slightly on the outer edges of the tip. There is a very short straight section at the very tip of the hand, and it has a short tail. I modified a seconds hand where I trimmed the tail and shaped the tip to a sharp point. It was still a bit long and I still wasn't happy with it.
I now have a great dial (same as yours) and a set of hands that let me down. I will get back to it again, but for now I just wear it.
That is my well more than two cents!
Herer is mine now
