Best "Currently Available" 16610 Rep?

I've been out of the rep game for a bit, but I'm curious what the best currently available 16610 rep is? For reference, I have a TC16610LV and a JF16610LN, so I don't really "need" another one, but I am curious how things have changed and progressed over the past several years.

There’s been nothing better come along since the JF, really. When JF discontinued their line, ARF took over, and you can now get what’s effectively the JF but with a claimed 904L case/bracelet. People tend to grumble that the crown guards are a bit short. (I have a 16613 Franken using an ARF case, and the crown guard issue is really marginal, to my eye.)

The only other choice is the good old budget BP models which are still available.

Thanks P0perrini. It's too bad that the JF 16610 has been discontinued, but I suppose it wasn't a huge seller for them. It seems like the greatest demand is for the most current models. Oh well...

The 16610 peaked with TC so if you have one of those you already got the best. The way to go if you want tbetter is to improve upon what you have and add a few mods. For the price of a new rep you can make a bit of an impact. My own TC has a gen insert, gen crystal, a VSF crown with a Startime tube, the case chamfers added to the top of the lugs and it has been engraved as per gen between the lugs too (and it's still work in progress, I'm going to put a cal 3135 in it and a gen 93250 eventually).

Unfortunately I missed out on getting a TC LN when they are new, but luckily I was able to pick up a TC LV used from a good friend.

As far as an LN goes, I currently have a JF16610LN, which IMHO, is a pretty good base to start with. Not quite as good as a TC (the bezel action is not quite there on the JF), but still pretty darned good. I've modded it with a few gen parts (DW, bezel insert, and auto winding assembly) and changed out the click spring, but other than that it remains stock. It is also my most frequently worn watch.

Oh, and here it is right now...

I want a 16610 but haven’t found a TC for a decent price. If I buy an ARF, can I install a gen crystal and gasket or does the gen gasket height not work?
I want to put a blue aluminum bezel on it, love that look.

The only thing ARF 16610 got better than JF or TC is the bracelet - if you can get one with the crown clasp centered.

I went the expensive route. I had used a Ginault casing, added ARF hands, and ARF dial for 2824 (had parts lying around). Ginault is basically TC case. It's the Ginault OR2, which I got a deal on, and then I had also swapped bezel assembly out for VSF 40mm. Now, I have this, which is a fantasy watch. I love it. I wear it as my beater and to shady places. Best part is, I can fully insure and add it to my jewelry insurance for next to nothing. You can pretty much use this as a base to build a nice rep or franken watch, since it is TC.

The ARF is gen spec dimensions - it'll take gen parts.

Availability has been very sporadic. You just have to keep checking.

What crystal do I put in the Arf 16610 ? Same one as the 6 digit sub will fit? What gen date disc do I put in the Arf?

Correct crystal is the 25-295C. The 116610 crystal is the same (the 116610 always has AR under the cyclops - which was a late addition to the 16610). The height of the crystal is determined by the gasket, and the correct gasket for the 16610 is 24-295-C2 which is 2.7mm tall (the 116610 gasket is 2.3mm).

You could contact RWI member Sub007 for a crystal/gasket. He's supplied all mine, and is a lovely guy to deal with.

The correct gen date disc is... the date disc for the 16610! I've never heard of these being referred to by a serial number. But any gen date disc for a 3135 movement will work. Some gen date discs for the 5 digit Subs have a more bold font than the current super-fine font seen in 6-digit models.

Awesome build, the problem is getting Ginaults… expensive as hell given that you can’t order the sole case

I thought VSF made the best Sub's?
6 digit subs? I'm not a 6 digit guy, but if you're after a 5 digit sub, then TC (or Ginault) it is. Nothing better has been made. But we can hope. ;‐)
