If it takes you 2 years to save for a $800 replica of a $14,500 watch, when you wear said watch, who on earth will believe you can afford one? If you really want to enter the hobby do yourself a favor and start out with the Hamilton(linked above), Omega or TAG.

Also don't forget said $14,500 Daytona sells for $31K in a heartbeat second hand. I was just looking at a well worn sub at my local AD and they wanted $12k for it. The Rolex prices are nuts and will only go up.

Oh and if you can't afford to loose it here don't spend it. I bought two thinking there is a good chance in todays environment one will get lost to customs.

You know that if your watch is lost to customs, the TD will send you another one, right? That is part of TDs commitments

Who gives a shit what others think about your watch on your wrist. People who aren’t so comfortable with their own financial position are the ones that tend to worry about being “called out”

Any sane person would or should. I will never forget the Bed Bath and Beyond cahier I saw wearing a lovely "Daytona". Or my wife's boss wearing a "Datejust" that most of the time wasn't running.

Why would someone buy a "super rep" if they don't care about what people think about what is on their wrist? If they didn't give a shit they would buy a 7750.

Your logic is flawed. Those people you mention clearly don't give a shit about what you thought about their nice watch. They felt great. And a few other people who maybe like a nice looking watch but know absolutely nothing about them (the latter being, well, pretty much the whole world) would admire their watch without making any further judgement - which would make the wearer feel even greater.

I am waiting for a white dial 116520.... Can't believe that it sounding like Feb now....

The 116520 are still under production and it can be Feb. same like the ceramic versions with black dial (116500).

This information is according to my supplier.

Let’s keep the finger crossed that the watches will be available soon.

lots of repeated and very boring messages about this daytona. of course we are all interested and waiting, all curious and informed.

but this is a discussion that is also intrinsic to this daytona.

the discussion of the call or "they don't give a fuck about your wrist, then don't buy a rep."

I don't give a shit what people see and think of me. I am the one who anticipates their call requests. is a rep friend.

but I really care what I want and I like it. am I crazy for rolexes? I can't afford a gen that isn't even used, or rather, I don't want to spend all that money on it? well, i buy a rep and i am so happy to wear it and look at my wrist a thousand times in one day.

the difference does not make the gen, the rep, the money, the considerations of others. the difference is only the mentality.
