Should I drill lug holes in my 16610 Sub?

I have a BP 16610 Sub which is supposedly modelled after the M-series without lug holes and with rehaut engraving.

As I'd like to be able to change out the rep bracelet for a real GMTII (holes case) bracelet I have, I need to drill lug holes. My watchmaker has offered to do this and says it will be easy to do.

I have owned, and still own a genuine Rolex - all of which had/have lug holes - so it seems like something is missing on my BP Sub.

I know this will not be period correct for the M-series sub but quite apart from being able to fit a bracelet designed for holes and general ease of bracelet and strap swapping, I think lug holes will add a certain style to my sub. ;)

Or will it be too obvious a 'tell' for those in the know about sub evolution?

What do you fellow forum members think?

Subs look a lot better with lug holes imo, however, the BP sub you have has rehaut engraving which comes much later after they stopped doing lug holes. If you do go with it, post pics, I've been looking for someone to drill lug holes on my sub case for a while!

drilling lugholes on a no hole case is a tricky thing to do... theres only a few people that will even attempt it. I saw you keep this the way it is... because you'll have to sand off the rehaut also and if not done right will look like you scratched the bezel with sandpaper, because its very visible on the outline of the crystal

I wasn't planning on doing anything with the rehaut as very few people would know holes and rehaut engraving don't mix, but in light of your advice about the difficulty drilling the holes I don't think I will go ahead with the project.

I wouldn't do it since the watch has an engraved rehaut...I like to keep my watches as close to original design as possible

people will know holes w/ rehaut engraving is wrong well before they figure out the dial with rehaut and no holes is wrong

Personally, I like the holes, but in this case I wouldn’t do it, keep it as near gen as possible, that’s the point of this rep game I think?? My 2c
