Thanks for the informative photo alignment. The dial against the DW background is obviously of different colors. Without this comparison, it would be difficult to accurately mark this.
Does the case material seem to differ not only in color tone, but also in pattern? Or does it seem to me?
That's a good point. On Panerai's new models, what I've seen is the datewheel base material generally seems to have the same qualities as the dial. Especially on the 1661. So when the dial is directed toward the light and the dial looks like a deep dark metallic black, the datewheel is a deep dark metallic black.
When it's reflecting indirect light, the dial looks like a flat, matte dull black and the datewheel has a dull, matte flat black.
Whatever angle the dial has and however it reflects light, the gen datewheel reflects the same way to look like the same material. While vsf is just using a black datewheel. For me, it's been one of the easiest quick spotting tells so far.
