After lurking and reading on RWI for several days I decided my first "serious" rep purchase should be a PAM111. I contacted several TD's and reviewed all the various choices; Versions, prices, policies, payment options, shipping methods, buyer reviews etc.

Within a few days I decided that before going forward with InTime or PureTime I'd contact BK. I PM'd him and received a reply within the day. We emailed back and forth about the version (Noob V4) and the additional work that BK does to these himself before sending them out. You can read all about that in his product "sticky" but suffice it to say, it's worth the little bit extra you pay over the other guys.

I was also very happy that BK is in the US (CA) so shipping for US customers is a breeze and there's no threat of customs issues. So on Thursday 4/5/18) I ordered the PAM111 from BK. I elected to pay by bank transfer via "PopMoney". On Monday 4/9 BK emailed to say he was testing the movement and the item would ship out on Wednesday. Sure enough, WED (4/11) I received a shipping notification from BK along with a tracking number. And then... TODAY...4/13/18... it arrived here in Washington!!

Shipped from CA via USPS priority...

As you can see the watch was quite well packed...

And inside that packaging? Everything I anticipated from dealing with BK! As he mentioned in one of his emails "your jaw will hit the floor when you see it"...YEP, mine did. Enjoy the pics!

So, in conclusion, if you're "on the fence" at all about buying a rep from BK don't hesitate. Granted it's early and the watch only just arrived but I'm stoked. The thing is just beautiful and I'll wear it with pride.

Great pics! BK is great to work with indeed. But those shots are really nice. Its rare that people can shoot and display machros which have such detail throughout. Well done! Crystal in your pics almost looks to have 2xAR done. Looks great! enjoy it

Thanks! Yeah I agree the AR coating is stellar.

Would have really liked to get a BK PAM111 but was just too impatient so I ordered from PureTime instead... I hope that it comes close to that piece of perfection you have!

It's a nice thought but you have to consider for the additional premium you pay for BK's mods, it would definitely be heads and shoulders than the ones from the TDs. Not saying the ones from the TDs are bad, modded ones are just better. It does fall already within the law of diminishing returns so just because it's for example 33% more expensive it doesn't mean it's 33% better. .

Yeah, true, but BK himself said that in the case of the PAM111 Noob V4 it's really minor - a polish, and some work around the swan neck/regulating lever/screw, which PureTime did for me after I queried the QC images.

Wow, I did not know BK does not need any work to the point of underselling his mods. I'm sure Puretime only made sure the micrometric screw touched the dagger, but no more than that. Anyway, as long as you're happy with what you're getting.

Well to be fair it’s a little more than that. Yes BK does polish the case and adjust the swan neck and screw so that they’re touching. He also locktites the screws on the CG which are prone to coming loose I guess. That swan neck ajustment strikes me as a tedious and time consuming task. If PureTime actually performs that “mod” for you I would interested in seeing their results when you get it! Either way the time that BK spends with the watch is IMO well worth the extra $50 or so he charges!

For sure, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. Like I said, my decision not to order with BK was driven purely by impatience - that's why I said I hope the product comes close when I do get it.

It's like saying Gordon Ramsey just cooks food. At the core it's that, but in reality it's so much more. :)

I wanted to provide an amazing update on the accuracy of this wonderful PAM111 from BK...

As stated earlier I recieved the watch on 4/13. Today is 4/27 so it’s been just about two weeks to the day. I pulled the crown out and set the time to time.gov “official” Pacific Time the day I recieved the watch and I have never pulled the crown out again! All I have done is release the CG lever each day and give the watch about 10 or so winds (until I feel slight pushback) and that is it. I’ve been noticing lately that the time seems to have been RIGHT ON the entire time. Today I decided to check it against time.gov again and....well... the results speak for themselves....

Generated from my Apple iPad using tools.rackonly.com

I realize these kinds of things can easily be faked and there’s no way for me to prove I haven’t adjusted them time since the first day but all I can say is I have no reason to misrepresent the watch. Frankly I’m tickled when any of my mechanical watches maintain under 5 sec/day. This watch has gained 1 single solitary second in over 2 weeks!

I am blown away. I’ve never seen a mechanical movement perform to this level of accuracy. This has to be a fluke right?

Really appreciate the time you spent on the review. Do you have any plans for a strap change?

I have a Nero 24/24 vintage leather style strap on the way that I picked up M2M here in the sales section. It’s going directly on this PAM11 when it arrives. The rubber strap that came on it is ok. It’s a tad soft but it’s a great little strap and very comfortable. The leather is going to look killer though.

It's normal but you see this "performance" because you are wearing it the most of the day :D
A movement performs with "great" differencies depending its' orientation when it's been measured.
My A6497 performs almost the same and it is "regulated" by me! Holding my breath and a toothpick.. gains +15" with the crown looks down, +5" up, etc.
I think that they are good, plain movements (gen or rep) with as much frequency as needed. Also the spring handle can be seen with naked eye...
