Nice pics and when I see them it makes me miss mine. I had a 904 as I truly love the panerai anthracite dials. My problem was I just never wore it and ended up selling it. I kind of regret it but as I said, never wore it. It was just a tough adjustment after the 44 and 47mm models.

But it does look good. It’s a beautiful watch. Both gen and VsF.

This is gen, but on topic: 38, 42, 45mm due.

And one more, this time, DUE, true 38mm, then bettarini 40mm, then luminor 1950 44mm, and the old luminor 1950 47mm.

I think, after a couple of photos with a description, questions about how it compares with this, or that, have disappeared.

How is the DW alignment on the VSF 904s? I've seen some pictures with horrible date alignment. I thought it might have been a manufacture fault or the datewheel being incorrect printed or something

I just got my QC's of my 904 VSF today and I agree with the missaligned DW. It is not horrible and even some days look 100% centered but some other days seem to tend a bit to the left. Anyway I gave green light, cause it doesn't really hurt...

But one question: I am planning to exchange the strap. Among all strapmakers I know, I couldn't find a small/slim engough strap for the filigrane PAM904. Most straps are too thick and don't go along very well with a slim 904. If you have any recommendation for smaller straps, let me know. Thanks! :)

Most of the well known strap makers make every strap to the custom wishes of the customer. Of course it make no sense to order a solid vintage designed strap in a thinner version. But many common straps can be manufactured in a slightly thinner version. The best would be, if you just ask the strapmakers. Simona from "Di Stefano" for example is always willing to help their customers. If you ask her, what thinner strap with a width of 22mm she would recommend for the 904, she will for sure give you a helpful answer. I have for example the thin "Churchill" strap from Di Stefano for my 904 and it suits this model very well. But of course taste is different. But there are many opportunities for thinner straps. I can even imagine to wear this watch with a (Pam-untypical) soft and thin Horween-Strap ;-)

yeah, it's really "holy moly" when the strap price is chasing the Rep price :D But I somehow fell in love with it - keep you updated in the "Bierhaus" (...or not, if it's too ugly :p )

Nice review.
I just picked up a 908 (and a 1312 and a 380 from someone downsizing) last week so was interested in the 904 review, seeing as the 908 is just a 904 in rose gold and a decorated cb.

I like the 42mm of the Due's, but the 1312 definitely wears bulkier on the wrist.

Best review I've seen so far. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I just ordered a PAM904 and still look forward to wearing it.

Incredible review OP! I have had my eye on this as I LOVED the dial, kind of turned off at the thickness though.
