Got my gen Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial a few days ago. I was deciding between getting the gen Spectre Seamaster or the regular Seamaster. The Spectre would cost me around close to 4 grand more. I was in a dilemma. Alas after some careful consideration, I decided to save that 4 grand and get the regular Seamaster 300. Between the two, they're basically the same watch. With differences being the larger Omega logo, lollipop seconds hand and bezel markings along with a bidirectional bezel. Everything else is the same, so the regular Seamaster 300 it is! It was also nice that the boutique threw in the nato strap for me free of charge.
And boy what a great looking watch it is!

So now I bring to you a comparison between my rep V6F V1 Spectre Seamaster 300 and the gen "non-Spectre" Seamaster 300. Of course in a perfect world, this would've been a comparison between two Spectre Seamaster 300, but we live in an imperfect world, so yeah...Hahaha.. So anyway, lets get down to the comparisons!

Dial:

First thing I noticed when I got my watch is the dial. The dial on the gen according to Omega, has been sand-blasted. Hence the reason it has the grainy textured look to it especially when seen directly under the light. Its really nice and just gives it that nice added detail instead of just being flat black. The replica obviously doesn't have the sand-blasted dial. It's matte, almost flat.

The printing on the dial between the two, I don't see a difference. Both are very sharp. The numerals for instance, the 3, 6 and 9 looks identical. I don't see any flaws at all on the rep with the dial printing.

Hands:

Hands are all identical. V6F did a good job on this. From the white seconds hand to the polished hour and minute hands, the rep hands look just as good as the gen. Sadly the rep hour hand on mine has developed some tarnishes on it over the 5 years I've had it. Wow, time flies.

Hour markers:

The recessed hour markers on the gen is another one that makes it so special to look at. Its cut out nicely, by laser I assume. It is then filled in afterwards with lume. Whereas on the rep, the dial is sandwiched. The hour markers have been cut out too, but the lume isn't filled in on the rep. Instead, there is a lume piece underneath the black dial of the rep. Side by side, the difference can be seen, albeit very subtle indeed. Look through a loupe and it's very obvious. The rep even though is sandwiched, executed this nicely to somewhat mimic the gen. Also, the lume markers on the rep seems much more yellowish than the off white colour of the gen.

And speaking of lume, the lume on the rep is bright, but its fleeting and will fade away after a while. On the gen, it glows brighter, and it fades away slower and will last through the night.

Bezel:

The polished ceramic bezel is a beauty. On the gen, the markers on the bezel has been engraved and later filled in with liquidmetal. The end result is perfect. Liquidmetal giving the markers/numerals on the ceramic bezel a nice silver, metallic look to it. I understand this is a very tedious and expensive process. There is even a video at YouTube showing how this is done. On the rep, the bezel is ceramic as well, but the numbers aren't liquidmetal. Not sure how they did it, but it's again nicely done on the rep. Only downside is that under certain lights or shadows, the numbers would entirely disappear. This is probably because the numbers on the rep is very reflective together with the ceramic. The Liquidmetal numbers won't do this. Even under shadow, the liquidmetal numerals can still be seen, albeit slightly, but still visible nonetheless. The same can't be said for the rep.

I've seen some say the gen has a darker bezel. I don't see it. Looks identical to me.
I should add that the silver inner ring is thin when compared to the gen. Very obvious when seen side by side. This was apparently fixed on the later versions of the Spectre, but even still, looking at pics of the reps, they look thin to me.

Crown:

Polished crown on the gen. Its brushed on the rep. Keep in mind that my rep is the V1 from 2015 and I do believe they've fixed this with a polished crown now on the later versions of the Spectre rep.

Lug width:

Gen has a 21mm lug width. Rep is 20mm. Again this is the V1 and I do believe they made the later versions of this in the correct width of 21mm.

Caseback:

The 8400 calibre is a beauty. It's no wonder Omega wants to show it off with the exhibition caseback. The rep with a Miyota movement underneath, is so nicely decorated. Almost amazing and again they executed this brilliantly. The finishing of the decoration on the rep is much more glossier than the gen which has a matte yet glossy look to it. Both are a beauty to look at. Details wise, almost identical, but you can't beat looking at the real deal. The engraving around the caseback is identical. It's perhaps much more deeply engraved and sharper on the gen, but only by a little.

Overall, the rep is pretty decent, some would say amazing. Hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for. The biggest tell for me being the non grainy dial and "disappearing" numbers on the bezel.

So that's about it. Hope you enjoyed the comparison. Any questions you wanna ask or picture requests do let me know and I'll do my best to provide.

Right now, I'm enjoying my gen SM300 and it will stay on the nato strap till I get tired of it. It looks so good on it! And I've been wearing it almost everyday since getting it!

Thank you for your work.
I so much would like a nice rep of the Seamaster 300 non-Spectre.

Let's hope VSF is done with the Spectre rep and would produce the non-Spectre SM300 instead soon. The demand I'm sure is there. Plus the rep for the standard one is definitely due for an update since the last we saw of the standard SM300 rep was the V6F ones from about 5 or 6 yrs ago and they only made one version of it with the miyota. They need to do it with the same standard as the latest V2 Spectre.

May VSF hear you! But I think the Spectre sells good, and they are now making money; as every factory, the more your produce, the less it costs. Redesigning the 300 would ask more work. Although, just the Spectre dial on the actual 300 version would be a good begining for me.

Maybe they will make the new 1967 Trilogy. I kind of like it too.
