The case has now been refinished, I took some 'before' pics - as you can see there's a couple of scratches here and there . . . .
Re-finishing a watch case means removing metal, but if you remove too much the case loses it's original shape and dimensions. So it's a compromise, in that you need to take off as much metal as is needed to remove scratches and dings, whilst still respecting the original shape and dimensions of the case.
The original Hesalite crystal was still intact, although very heavily scratched - these are very hard if not impossible to find. With some time spent on it, it now looks almost like new.
