Review Of The Month Project, September 2014
Ceramic Planet Ocean Skyfall Limited Edition from PsYcHoSPIKE
As usual I will have to start thanking our Supporing Vendor PsYcHoSPIKE who was kindly enough to send me this nice piece of equipment to make a review of it.Ceramic Planet Ocean Skyfall Limited Edition from PsYcHoSPIKE
This is another model that isn’t very popular mainly cause of the 007 symbols/patterns etc I believe but it is as good as the the other CrPOs and more eye catching due to dial the pattern which is very nice!
Once again I will start with the dial. A lovely and attracting dial. It needs work though. I spend some time examining it with the lupe and checking the gen pics. Here is what I noticed, gen has more mat finish while rep is more glossy. Also the little rectangles are separated by vertical and horizontal lines. Those lines are of the same depth on the rep while the horizontal ones are of smaller depth on the gen. Also the edges of the rectangles are more sharp on the gen while on the rep are more circular. The 2 of marker 12 is slightly misaligned.
Besides that the lume markers are very nice(lume is acceptable, not super one but not very weak), logos are well done, even the 007 one. Red seamaster lettering is very vivid. Hands are good, red tip of the seconds hand could have been more red, it looks like orange or fainted to me. Date wheel font also is kind off. Usual problem. Use the bald font people . Anyway I like the look of the dial, its very uncommon and eye attracting!
Bezel now seems like a BP bezel. I don’t know whether the numbers will faint or not. I also have seen better pearls on some of the latest CrPOs but I can't complain since I have seen a lot worst… Bezel clicks and works perfectly!
Crystal one more time is great. Remember the time we had to pay top money and wait and wait for a great aftermarket AR on our crystals? I think there is no reason to do that with all the new CrPOs. They are great. Invisible in certain angles, very light blue tint on some others.
Movement works like a charm. Rotor spins freely, you have to try to hear it.Setting time and date is easy and this is the only one from all those that have reviewed so far that crown need only 6 full turns to screw down. He valve screws/unscrews on this one too.
Should I talk about the back again? I think you all know whats the deal here. The good thing is that engravings are great, it has a serial number and ant counterfeit globe.
Bracelet is lovely also. Comfortable to wear, nice 007 engraving and piece of cake to remove the extra links. The divers extension isn’t very tight on this one but once the clasp is closed you don’t mind about that.
As usual the watch will stay with me for a couple of days more so if you have any questions just shoot!
