Feedback on Clark's crystal and some other stuff

Hi guys, am planning to change my sub crystal to a Clark's. But there seems to be both positive and negative feedback on them, mostly positive.

Also there seems to be two versions now, both 1.8mm. One is with the AR on the date window and one without. Am I right in assuming the non date AR would be better.

Finally, what tools would I need to change out the glass? Would I need a crystal press? And is there somewhere that has a detailed guide for this? Am also going to change the bezel insert along with it. Do I need something to press the bezel back in or would thumb pressure be enough?

This is for a noob v5.

Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you guys.

Thank you. Can you please help me with the other part of the questions. I think I like the no AR better.

I bought a noob v9 sub with Clark crystal from BK last year, and it looks very good. It’s thinner but it doesn’t bother me.

Clark's crystals are 1.8mm now, like the new gens
Many rep crystals are still 2mm

Thanks KJ2020 , really appreciate the help. In my case it's a noob v5, which comes with springs rather than the clip. As far as I have read, these go back on easy with a bit of pressure on either side.

But the method shown in the thread you linked is pretty interesting. I guess since I don't plan on reusing the old insert I could just chip it and break it

Noobs with springs and balls do go back on easier IME but re-seating a bezel should always be done with the insert out. If you have difficulty getting it on, you can use a piece of thick PVC pipe that fits inside the bezel well (substituting for a crystal die) and a short strong piece of wood to apply pressure evenly to your watch which would be lying flat on a bench.

See this post about halfway down regarding the bezel, which also illustrates what you can run into.

KJ2020 , one last question, do these Clark's crystals have that not there kind of finish? Like at certain angles it's difficult to believe there is glass on there?

That's a subjective opinion, you'll have to decide for yourself, look at the picture. If you don't want to see the crystal get AR on it.

It depends bro. Some reps make the crystal sit higher for hands clearance on some movements. Best thing to do is measure the gasket it has now but I know that's not usually convenient. If you want to post a good clear pic of your crystal profile, I can give you a better answer. Like these pics:

This watch came to me with a 3.2mm gasket. GMFs are really bad about that. I replaced it with 2.6mm and a Clark's with cyclops AR

Thanks mate.. I was planning to buy the Clark crystal but I don’t have the watch yet.. I am reading a lot about arf vs vrf vs the latest gmf (116710 LN) but not yet decided. So I will wait when I will choose the watch..

Someone knows if Clark crystal is still working and how can I contact with him?
