Hello guys
I would like to franken my dj41 arf with A2824 movement.
I plan to change the datewheel to a gen 3235 caliber.

My question: does this gen 3235 datewheel fits to my arf DJ41 A2824?

Thank u very much in advance

Regards

You may also consider switching to a Swiss ETA 2824 while you are at it. Especially if you’re planning to keep it for a while.

Dont u need a gen xtal too if u are installing gen DW? The mag will be different on the arf xtal i believe.

The gen DW will not "fit" into an ETA 2824 as a DW. It will have to be glued on as an overlay to the 2824 DW. This usually involves additional modding like adding a thicker dial spacer and/or sanding some of the thickness off the back of the gen DW. Sometimes even the teeth are cut off so they don't catch on the motion works cover screw. There is very little room in a 2824 to add something even as thin as a DW. I've not seen this done yet in a DJ41, maybe new ground is being broken here.

You will nearly always have to add a thicker dial spacer to keep the gen DW (being used as an overlay) from scaping the backside of the dial. The extra thickness of the spacer should not be thicker than the DW itself, so the height relationship between the numbers and the cyclops should not change. Therefore the degree of magnification should not change.

ok I see... but does the Gen DW fits to the current A2824?

No. The gen DW is much wider, has teeth in a smaller diameter perimeter and the teeth are aligned to the numbers differently. The only way a gen DW works in an ETA watch is as an overlay, glued on top of the ETA DW.

From what KJ2020 has stated so well above, the only way a gen datewheel will work is if it is modified to a point where it may no longer be used on a gen movement, which is a shame.

A solution to consider is to instal a DWO from BK. It costs $20-30, and comes ready to be glued on the datewheel on your movement. His DWOs have been used extensively on the 16610 subs and are the closest to gen.

It's possible for the gen DW to work without being altered, it just depends on the individual install. People trying to do this should be prepared to accept the loss of the ability to re-use the gen DW as a gen but you may get lucky. A limitation is the canon pinion height, an unaltered thicker gen DW means a thicker dial spacer which takes away space to mount hands with adequate clearance from each other and from the dial.

BK will not source a DJ41 DW. There is no rep DJ41 overlay, as the dial date cutout window is placed directly over the native ETA DW, so the ETA DW is just printed with Rolex fonts. Noob DJ41 DW's are available separately from your TD if they are willing, although ATM Noob is not selling parts. I have money on hold for some parts ordered before Noobs shutdown.

As a side note, the new BP 5 digit ETA Subs use the exact same size native ETA DW'S with Rolex fonts.

Pic shows a Noob DW, they are pretty good.

KJ2020 alright. If I understood u correctly one possibility is to use a DJ41 DW from Noob? does it really fit into a DJ ARF?
I was in touch with ryan and he said he cannot confirm that a DW from other factory fit into a ARF DJ..
